On April 20, the author of the best-selling comic series in Japan "Little Miko - the playful girl" - Ms. Ono Eriko came to Vietnam to interact with readers on the occasion of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2024.

The manga series "Little Miko - the cheerful girl" is set in the daily life of schoolboys in Tokyo, Japan, with the central character being a girl named Yamada Miko in elementary school (by episode 36, the character is in middle school).

The stories revolve around the life and daily happenings of schoolgirl Miko and her friends, in which we all see ourselves in the image of Miko, her friends, parents, teachers...

Therefore, the series closely follows very common social issues, including things that parents want to share with their children but find difficult to talk about: teenage love, early puberty, LGBT, children in divorced families, single-parent families... That's why, in addition to the entertainment and relaxation factors, this comic series can be considered a kind of handbook for girls and young women on how to behave civilly and openly in the face of life's problems.

During the meeting at the headquarters of Tre Publishing House (HCMC), female author Ono Eriko said that this was her first time in Vietnam. She expressed her surprise that the series “Little Miko - the playful girl” had such a great appeal to Vietnamese readers and thanked readers for loving this book series.

According to Ono Eriko, she wrote this series for more than 30 years, from when she had no children until she had a daughter and raised her child.

On the occasion of visiting Vietnam, author Ono Eriko also drew a special picture of “Miko wearing Ao Dai” with Ben Thanh market in the background. This picture was also used as the cover of the 5-volume Miko selection boxset and gifts for Vietnamese readers in the near future.
