Driver says he turned the car around on the highway because he was "following Google Maps"

(NLDO)- Taking the wrong route due to using Google Maps, a 28-year-old driver turned his car around on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway, causing traffic safety problems.


On the evening of February 15, the commander of Highway Traffic Police Team No. 1 (Team 1, Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security) said that the unit had just drawn up an administrative violation record for a driver who made a U-turn on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway, causing traffic insecurity.

Accordingly, after receiving feedback from social networks about the case of a car with license plate 30E-364.xx making a U-turn on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway, Team 1 sent officers to verify and identified the violating driver as Mr. Tr.Ng.T. (28 years old, residing in Thuong Tin district, Hanoi).

Working with the police, driver T. admitted that at around 12:30 on February 14, he was driving a car to Lao Cai, and when he reached Km198, he turned the car around because he took the wrong route.

Explaining this dangerous action, driver T. said that he used Google Maps during the trip but because he did not know how to use it, he went the wrong way and turned around. In addition, the driver realized that his behavior caused traffic safety problems and promised not to repeat the offense.

Team 1 issued an administrative violation report against Mr. T. for turning his car around on the highway, fined 35 million VND and deducted 10 points from his driving license.
