Initial assessment is that this incident is a violation of the minimum separation standards between aircraft and “airborne collision avoidance alarm”. The incident must be reported according to the aviation safety reporting regulations of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.
Immediately after the incident, the Southern Air Traffic Management Company temporarily suspended the relevant air traffic controllers and conducted an investigation into the incident, and reported to the competent authority as prescribed. Accordingly, no flight crew including the Chief of Flight Operations, the direct controller (EC) and the coordination controller (PLC), and the supervisory controller were assigned to assist in the investigation of the incident.

After receiving the information, VATM leaders immediately decided to establish an internal investigation team led by the Head of the Quality Safety Department to clarify the cause of the incident. VATM leaders said that the investigation team is currently performing its duties at the Southern Air Traffic Management Company. When the official results are available, VATM will officially announce the information according to regulations.

The on-duty crew organized a commentary right after the shift about the above incident. The Southern Air Traffic Management Company also organized a commentary and drew lessons from the above situation for all the air traffic controllers of ACC HCM.
