Inspirational role model in security and order protection forces at the grassroots level

In Quarter 5, Trung An Ward, Dong Thap Province, Comrade Nguyen Van Du (born in 1977), Head of the Security and Order Protection Team of Quarter 5, has become a typical example of bravery and responsibility. Comrade Du has participated in ensuring the peace of the neighborhood for nearly 18 years.

With his outstanding achievements in crime prevention and control, comrade Du has become one of the advanced models of the force participating in protecting security and order at the grassroots level, and was commended at the meeting between General Secretary To Lam and advanced models attending the 9th "For National Security" Emulation Congress on August 4.
SILENT VEHICLES

With the desire to contribute to crime prevention and control, in 2008, comrade Du voluntarily joined the Civil Protection Force of Ward 10, My Tho City, Tien Giang Province, formerly known as the Security and Order Protection Team of Trung An Ward, Dong Thap Province.

He always considers contributing to the security and order of the neighborhood as his responsibility and pride. As the Head of the Security and Order Protection Team of Neighborhood 5, Comrade Du always receives professional guidance from the Ward Police Chief, thereby proactively advising and building many effective models.

Previously, robberies and thefts occurred frequently in the area and the perpetrators were mostly people from other places. To help solve this complicated situation, comrade Du proactively established the model "Zalo page for crime prevention" and received positive responses from the people.

The model helps people promptly provide information related to security and order to the Security Team. Thanks to this information channel, when a suspicious person appears, people immediately report to the team to monitor or ambush and catch the subject red-handed when committing an illegal act.

In the past 5 years alone, Comrade Du has directly arrested many dangerous subjects, including 1 murderer, 7 robbers, 16 thieves and 1 wanted person. Comrade Du is also working with the local authorities and police to manage 4 subjects who have returned to their locality after drug rehabilitation.

Comrade Du is a typical example in the fight against and arrest of criminals. With his experience and professional acumen, he has directly participated and coordinated with the police force to crack down on many complicated cases, arresting many dangerous subjects.

These achievements not only contribute to maintaining security and order in the locality, but also strengthen people's trust in the police force and self-governing organizations."

The cases in which Comrade Du participated in the pursuit showed his bravery and fearlessness of danger. Typically, on February 20, 2023, upon receiving information about a rapist and robber returning from Ho Chi Minh City, Comrade Du and the ward's Crime Prevention Team went out to intercept him.

When he discovered and was forced to accelerate by the subject, forcing him to run away, comrade Du bravely overtook him, wrestled him down and brought him to the ward police station. Or the case of arresting an inter-provincial robber (just released from prison), on June 29, 2023: Upon receiving information from the Ward Police Command, there was a subject stealing property moving through the ward, immediately the ward's Crime Prevention Team divided into many groups to search, when discovered, the subject accelerated and ran away. After chasing for a long distance, comrade Du forced the subject's vehicle and arrested him, handing him over to the ward police for handling.

On May 18, 2025, Comrade Du received information from the Ward Police Commander that a murderer was hiding in the ward. Through identification and vehicle characteristics, when discovering the subject, he followed and called his teammates to inform them. When following to the motel, Comrade Du immediately ran to knock the subject down and together with his teammates brought the subject to the Ward Police headquarters for handling.

Comrade Du shared: “I am always determined to contribute to the pursuit of criminals, bringing bad guys to light. Through the process of ensuring security and order, participating in supporting the pursuit of criminals has left on my body a “collection” of scars from times when criminals fiercely fought back, but with the spirit of not giving up in the face of evil, I always try to complete the assigned tasks well.”

After many years of efforts by the forces and the people, the crime and social evils in the ward have been controlled. Recently, comrade Du advised and mobilized people to install security cameras, making it easier to track down criminals.
Actively participate in mediation work

Not only stopping at the work of arresting criminals, Comrade Du also actively participated in the Mediation Team in the residential community and successfully mediated 6 cases related to security and order. According to Comrade Du, doing a good job of mediation at the grassroots level is a measure to prevent the root causes of law violations.

Typically, on May 29, 2025, when receiving news of a land dispute that threatened to disrupt public order, comrade Du promptly arrived to prevent and mediate, avoiding any unfortunate consequences.

Comrade Du confided: “When I participated in catching robbers, danger always lurked, my wife, children and people around me were also worried, but for me, the job of protecting security and order has permeated my body. Every day, seeing the peace where I live is the motivation for me to always be attached and responsible for maintaining security and order in the area and my hometown. I hope that leaders at all levels will pay more attention to the forces participating in protecting security and order at the grassroots level. My teammates and I vow to be the “extended arm”, effectively supporting the People's Public Security force in the cause of protecting the security of the Fatherland.”

With his positive contributions in the past time, Comrade Du has been awarded over 100 Certificates of Merit and Certificates of Merit by all levels for his outstanding achievements in the fight against crime. Recently, Comrade Du was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Minister of Public Security for his outstanding achievements in the movement "All people protect national security" for the period 2020 - 2025...

The story of comrade Nguyen Van Du is a clear demonstration of the spirit of dedication, courage and responsibility of those working in security and order at the grassroots level. They are silent heroes, day and night contributing to maintaining a peaceful life for each neighborhood and hamlet.

Comrade Du's dedication, fearlessness of danger and responsibility have inspired many comrades in the force, and are a solid foundation for the local "All people protect national security" movement to develop further.
