The Charity and Social Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of the city organizes a "Zero-VND Market"

Representative of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in A Luoi district, Venerable Thich Tam Phuong shared: This activity is to celebrate the United Nations Vesak Day 2025, expressing sympathy for the difficult situation of Mr. Pham Phuoc Loi's family. Hopefully, from the donation to build the "Great Unity" house with a budget of 60 million VND, Mr. Loi's family will soon have a new house, contributing to stabilizing their lives, having the motivation to continue doing business, rising out of poverty to stabilize their lives.

Mr. Phan Canh Phong, Vice Chairman of Son Thuy Commune People's Committee shared: The construction of the "Great Unity" house this time is an activity with deep humanistic meaning, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity, sharing, and mutual love in the community. The philanthropists have accompanied the government, showing noble gestures through practical actions, contributing to caring for people's lives, building an increasingly strong national unity bloc.

According to information from the Buddhist Charity and Social Committee of the city, with a similar approach, the Committee has connected and started building 12 "Great Unity" houses, charity houses, and houses of kindness for 12 households in difficult circumstances in A Luoi, Phu Vang, Quang Dien districts, Huong Tra town, and Phong Dien town. Many solid houses have been built, helping people fulfill part of their dreams, encouraging them to settle down and stabilize their lives.

Venerable Thich Hue Trong, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha's Social Affairs Committee in the city, informed: In order to carry out charitable activities, the Standing Committee of the Social Affairs Committee has proactively developed plans, connected and accompanied the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha's Social Affairs Committees in districts and towns; agencies, socio-political organizations, mass organizations and called on benefactors to carry out many meaningful charity programs to many localities, many families in difficult circumstances, and orphans.

Notably, on the occasion of the Buddha's Birthday in 2025, the Social Affairs Committee mobilized more than 700 million VND to organize a "Zero-VND Market" with 1,000 poor people participating; awarded 30 scholarships (each worth 1 million VND), along with 100 million VND for house repairs for 5 households. The Social Affairs Committee always nurtures dreams, helps children go to school through many meaningful activities such as: Mid-Autumn Festival for children, Children's Day, Godmother - Sunflowers welcome the sun... awarded thousands of scholarships to children in difficult circumstances who are studious; sponsored more than 120 orphans, and donated nutritious milk (50 cartons/month) to accompany them.

During natural disasters and floods, each monk, nun in the Social Support Committee and Buddhists joined hands to call for dozens of tons of necessities, money, and pure objects to go to the difficult areas in the northern mountainous provinces to send a little bit of the heart of the Buddhists of Hue. Each step of the monks, nuns in the Social Support Committee demonstrated the spirit of not being afraid of difficulties with the hope of helping as many people as possible.

Over the years, the City Buddhist Social Affairs Committee has always received close coordination from the government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the Youth Union, the Red Cross, and the Women's Union in organizing the program; selecting and handing over to those in difficult circumstances. Especially the companionship and support of philanthropists, Buddhist families, companies, agencies, and businesses have trusted and assigned the responsibility to the Social Affairs Committee; The Standing Committee of the Social Affairs Committee connects and brings material and spiritual values ​​to everyone.

According to Venerable Thich Hue Trong, in the current context, when the country is entering a new era - the era of national development, the important role of Buddhism in social life continues to be affirmed.
