Continue to reduce plastic waste, protect the blue ocean

On May 15 , in Tuy Hoa City , the Department of Agriculture and Environment coordinated with the World Wildlife Fund in Vietnam ( WWF - Vietnam ) to organize a conference to summarize the project on Reducing Ocean Plastic Waste in Vietnam in Phu Yen province . The Ocean Plastic Waste Reduction Project in Vietnam is being implemented in provinces and cities including Ha Tinh , Quang Binh ( Dong Hoi ) , Thua Thien Hue (A Luoi ) , Da Nang , Quang Nam ( Cu Lao Cham ) , Phu Yen ( Tuy Hoa ), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (Con Dao ), Long An (Tan An), Kien Giang (Rach Gia and Phu Quoc ) .

In Phu Yen, the project has been implemented for a long time with many efforts to organize extensive and continuous communication to many components , contributing to raising public awareness of plastic waste and the harmful effects of plastic waste on health, contributing to changing consumer behavior towards plastic, especially single-use plastic . The project has trained and improved the capacity of officials in the fields of environmental protection and plastic waste, thereby becoming propagandists in agencies and communities. Project models such as the Plastic Waste Reduction School model have been continuously implemented for many years and achieved many positive results , from the initial small pilots, criteria and regulations related to plastic waste reduction have been widely applied in schools in the province.

The Ocean Plastic Waste Reduction Project in Vietnam in Phu Yen province also implemented pilot models of waste classification and post-classification waste treatment suitable for each object and scale, which is the basis for implementing the Provincial People 's Committee 's plan to deploy solid waste classification activities in the province. The project has also continuously eliminated waste hotspots in the province from 2021-2025, collecting hundreds of thousands of tons of waste, contributing to reducing the loss of plastic waste into the environment .

During the implementation process , the Ocean Plastic Waste Reduction Project in Vietnam in Phu Yen province also implemented models to prevent plastic waste loss from fishing and aquaculture activities. The models were implemented from 2023-2024, laid the initial foundation and had many positive results, the locality is continuing to maintain and expand in the coming time .

At the conference , delegates participated in discussions , analysis , and contributed ideas on the goal of reducing plastic waste , especially ocean plastic waste . The Ocean Plastic Waste Reduction Project in Vietnam in Phu Yen province has been creating positive changes in environmental protection work in the province . ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ The project not only contributes to supporting resources to improve the collection system , piloting local models and initiatives , but also helps to connect and link the efforts of different stakeholders in society for the common effort to reduce waste pollution . ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​

Delegates also recommended continuing to implement projects and models to reduce waste and protect the environment in localities in the province , especially coastal localities , rural areas , and mountainous areas . ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​
