Review of pig price situation today 5/22/2025
In the Northern region, the price of live pigs today fluctuated from 67,000 to 69,000 VND/kg, with Bac Giang leading the region at 69,000 VND/kg. The remaining provinces such as Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Nam Dinh, Ha Nam, and Ninh Binh recorded the lowest price of 67,000 VND/kg, while Hung Yen, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Thai Binh, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi, and Tuyen Quang reached 68,000 VND/kg. The Northern market did not record any new price fluctuations this morning, indicating that supply and demand are in a state of balance. This stable trend may continue in the short term if there are no sudden factors such as epidemics or changes in consumption demand. Provinces such as Hanoi and Bac Giang, with large consumption demand, continue to play an important role in keeping prices stable.
In the Central Highlands region, live hog prices fluctuated between VND67,000 and VND73,000 per kg, with Binh Thuan leading the region at VND73,000 per kg. Lam Dong, Dak Lak, and Ninh Thuan followed with VND72,000 per kg. Provinces such as Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Tri, Quang Binh, Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, and Khanh Hoa traded between VND68,000 and VND69,000 per kg, with Ha Tinh having the lowest price of VND67,000 per kg. The market in this region remained stable, with no recorded increase or decrease in prices. However, the Central Highlands provinces are often affected by weather conditions and epidemics, so farmers need to focus on biosecurity measures to ensure a stable supply. Consumption demand in this region remains average, with a stable trend in the short term.
The Southern live hog market today continues to maintain the highest price in the country, ranging from 73,000 to 75,000 VND/kg. Long An, Tien Giang, and Ben Tre lead the region with a price of 75,000 VND/kg, while provinces such as Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Dong Thap, An Giang, Vinh Long, Can Tho, Hau Giang, Ca Mau, Bac Lieu, and Tra Vinh traded at 74,000 VND/kg. The remaining provinces such as Binh Phuoc, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, and Soc Trang recorded a price of 73,000 VND/kg. There was no price fluctuation in this morning's session, showing that the Southern market is still vibrant with abundant supply from the Mekong Delta region. The role of the South in the national live hog market continues to be prominent thanks to strong consumption in large cities such as Ho Chi Minh City and high demand for food processing.
The live hog market today, May 22, 2025, remains stable in all three regions, with prices ranging from 67,000 to 75,000 VND/kg, reflecting the balance between supply and demand. The South continues to lead in price, while the North and the Central Highlands - Central regions maintain a flat trend. Farmers should continue to closely monitor market developments, especially factors such as African swine fever and feed costs, to adjust production plans accordingly. Applying advanced farming techniques and ensuring biosecurity will be key to maintaining profits in the current market context.
News, forecast of live pig price on May 22, 2025
On May 22, 2025, Lao Cai is becoming a bright spot in the country's modern agricultural landscape with remarkable progress in high-tech livestock farming. According to Lao Cai Radio and Television, the province is currently proud to own 292 large-scale livestock farms, of which 91 farms meet economic standards with a production value of VND 2 billion or more per year. These figures not only reflect the potential but also affirm Lao Cai's position in pioneering the development of high-quality agriculture.
In particular, Bao Thang district is emerging as a high-tech livestock center of the province. Here, 10 modern livestock facilities have been built, including a breeding sow farm with a scale of more than 500 pigs, seven pig farms with 300 to 2,000 pigs, and two poultry farms with impressive numbers of 10,000 to 20,000 pigs. These farms not only apply advanced technology but also ensure outstanding economic efficiency, contributing to improving the quality of livestock products in the province.
Not stopping there, Lao Cai also made its mark with the trend of shifting to a sustainable livestock farming model. Many farms in the province are actively applying organic and circular livestock farming methods, focusing on biosafety. This is a strategic direction, not only meeting increasingly demanding consumer demands but also protecting the environment, ensuring long-term development.
These efforts have yielded proud results. From 2021 to 2025, Lao Cai's livestock output grew strongly at a rate of over 4.8% per year. This achievement not only helped the province complete the goals in Project 01 of the Provincial Party Committee but also laid a solid foundation for the strategy of developing commodity agriculture until 2030, with a vision towards 2045.
With the combination of high technology and sustainable orientation, Lao Cai is gradually affirming its leading role in the livestock industry, promising to bring high quality products to meet both domestic and export needs.
