Farmers' Association of Giao Hai commune develop aquaculture and seafood exploitation.

Every year, the Association at all levels has called on members to register for the title of excellent producer and trader at all levels. In 2024, the Association at all levels has promoted and mobilized the establishment of 2 models of excellent producer and trader farmer clubs in Giao Hai and Giao Thien communes with 96 members. The emulation movement for excellent production and trading has continued to be maintained and developed, arousing the will, diligence and creativity in farmers' labor and production, encouraging members to develop the economy and increase the value of the cultivated area. The whole district has built 35 linkage models and large fields with a total area of ​​1,493 hectares. Many linkage and cooperation models according to the value chain to increase value and link products have achieved good results such as: the model of growing clean vegetables in greenhouses according to VietGAP standards in Giao Ha commune; the model of Dinh Moc circular agricultural economic cooperative (HTX) in Giao Tan commune; the model of growing mushrooms according to VietGAP standards in Hong Thuan commune; Model of raising whiteleg shrimp on covered floating ponds in Giao Thien and Giao Phong communes... From the movement in the district, many examples of good farmers in production and business have emerged. A typical example is Mr. Nguyen Dai Duong, a member of the Farmers' Association of Giao An commune, who develops aquaculture, harvests and supplies the market with 15-20 tons of shrimp and many tons of clams each year, after deducting expenses, the profit is about 2 billion VND; at the same time, it creates regular jobs for 15 workers with an average income of 7 million VND/person/month and also attracts many seasonal workers. Mr. Cao Van Ba, Giao Phong commune has been successful for many years with a high-tech shrimp farming model, with an average harvest of 20-25 tons of shrimp per crop, earning a profit of 5-6 billion VND/year. Mr. Ba and his members also established a cooperative, creating regular jobs for nearly 30 local workers, with an income of 9-10 million VND/person/month... Mr. Vu Tuan Hiep, Director of Tuan Hiep Mushroom and Handicraft Cooperative, Hong Thuan Commune with a model of producing and processing mushroom products. On average, each year, the cooperative supplies the market with about 40 tons of various types of mushrooms, with a total revenue of about 2 billion VND/year...

To encourage farmers to compete in production and business, the Farmers' Association at all levels focuses on building and developing effective economic models and mobilizing, guiding and supporting farmers to participate in developing collective economic forms in agriculture . The models of cooperatives, cooperatives, and professional farmers' association branches continue to be maintained. Many models have promoted high economic efficiency such as: the Sa Chau traditional fish sauce production association in Giao Chau commune; the agricultural machinery association in Giao Tan commune; the aquaculture cooperatives in Giao Thien, Giao An, Giao Hai, Giao Phong, Giao Long, Bach Long communes... The District Farmers' Association has also actively promoted and trained Association officials on collective economy, guided the establishment of cooperatives and collective economic models, and shared production experiences and found outlets for products. Up to now, the whole district has 2 cooperatives, 22 cooperative groups, the members are always close, actively supporting each other in production, business and services. Typical examples are the organic vegetable cooperative of Giao Yen commune; the hemp cooperative of Binh Hoa commune; the flower cooperative of Giao Yen commune; the wedding dress cooperative of Giao Lac commune...

Along with that, the district's Farmers' Associations continue to innovate and improve the effectiveness of consulting activities, supporting capital, science and technology, providing agricultural equipment and materials, and vocational training to create jobs for farmers. The Associations from the district to the grassroots level effectively implemented the capital source of the Farmers' Support Fund with a total capital of over 2 billion VND. The capital source entrusted by the Central Association and the Provincial Association is 2.9 billion VND, lending to 214 households to develop economic models. In 2024, the district Farmers' Association will complete the documents and disburse capital for the clean fish sauce production project in Giao Chau commune, the aquaculture project in Giao Ha commune, and the mushroom growing project in Hong Thuan commune with a total amount of 1.4 billion VND. The Associations at all levels coordinate with the district's Social Policy Bank to deploy a plan to survey the demand for loans for economic development for lending programs for poor households, near-poor households, and newly escaped-poverty households; Continue to perform well the entrustment stages with the Social Policy Bank; to date, the total outstanding debt has reached 217 billion 146 million VND, entrusted through 143 savings and loan groups to 5,333 borrowing households. In 2024, the Association at all levels coordinated to organize training courses on transferring scientific and technical advances to over 3,250 members and farmers. The Farmers' Associations of communes and towns coordinated with Tien Nong Fertilizer Joint Stock Company, Viet Nhat Fertilizer Company and other enterprises to deploy deferred fertilizer services and agricultural materials for farmers; as a result, 80 tons of fertilizer for rice and other crops were provided; 0.5 tons of pesticides were provided. The District Farmers' Association coordinated with Bac Ha College of Technology to organize a conference to advise and support farmers to start a business, along with consulting and introducing jobs in communes and towns for more than 240 farmer members and children of farmer members who are of working age. Propaganda work, raising awareness for members and farmers about the benefits of building product brands and trademarks; product introduction and promotion activities for farmers are focused. The district Farmers' Association coordinates with the district Department of Agriculture and Environment to propagate and guide members, farmers and businesses to register for OCOP products. Up to now, the whole district has 121 products recognized as OCOP products with 3 to 4 stars. The district Farmers' Association also coordinates with the district Post Office to implement a coordination plan to support farmers in digital transformation in agricultural production and consumption; support farmers to bring agricultural products and goods to e-commerce platforms. Coordinate with the district Agricultural Service Center to display, introduce and widely promote OCOP certified products, local specialty products to consumers...

In the coming time, the Farmers' Association at all levels of Giao Thuy district will continue to encourage and motivate farmers to enthusiastically compete in production and business, apply scientific and technological advances in production, actively participate in implementing economic development models and projects, contributing to improving productivity, output of crops and livestock, and production value per unit of cultivated area.
