The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment issued a peak plan to strengthen the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods in the new situation within the scope of the Ministry's tasks.
The scope is products and goods under the state management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, focusing on inspection of food safety, fake, toxic food, food of unknown origin; Forestry and aquatic products; Production and trade of fake plant varieties, livestock, fertilizers, and pesticides; Use of growth stimulants for fruits; Excessive use of chemicals to increase weight, prevent dehydration after thawing to deceive about volume and reduce quality.
Deployed in key localities with complex developments and frequent incidents under the focus of inspection.
The plan sets out the inspection of the implementation status of local agricultural and environmental authorities on the prevention of smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, infringement of intellectual property rights related to the inspection content and individuals and organizations producing, trading, importing and exporting forestry and aquatic products, producing and trading in fake plant varieties, livestock, fertilizers, and pesticides.
Time: Peak from May 15, 2025 to June 15, 2025.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment assigns specific tasks to each unit, in which the Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development is responsible for planning and organizing inspections and post-inspections on food safety, strictly handling acts of trading in fake, toxic, and unknown-origin food; excessive use of chemicals to increase weight, prevent dehydration after thawing to deceive about the volume and reduce the quality of seafood.
The Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection is responsible for focusing on inspecting the production and trade of fake plant varieties, fertilizers, and pesticides; controlling the use of growth stimulants for fruits; and using banned chemicals, not listed (focusing on the substance Yellow O in durian).
The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine inspects the import, temporary import and re-export of meat, livestock and poultry by-products and livestock and poultry products for food and animal feed; the illegal trading and transportation of livestock and poultry at border gates; the production and trading of fake livestock breeds, animal feed, and veterinary drugs; the excessive use of chemicals to increase weight, prevent dehydration after thawing to deceive about the volume and reduce the quality of animal products.
Establish a working group to prevent smuggling and trade fraud
Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy also signed and issued a Decision to establish a Working Group on the peak of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights.
According to the decision, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Thanh Nam is the Head of the Working Group. The Deputy Head is the Director of the Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development.
The working group is responsible for directing, inspecting, and urging agencies, units, and localities to deploy and implement the Peak Plan to combat smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
At the same time, direct the inspection and propose handling of violations in the production and trading of smuggled goods, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, poor quality goods, and goods violating intellectual property rights in the fields of agriculture and the environment.
