Aiming at sustainable development, the province has always paid attention to and directed the implementation of propaganda to raise public awareness about environmental protection, including biodiversity protection, through organizing activities in response to environmental events such as International Day for Biological Diversity (May 22), World Environment Day (June 5), etc.
In the Vinh Phuc Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister, the province sets the goal of socio-economic development associated with environmental protection, including focusing on biodiversity conservation and protection of natural ecosystems such as forests, lakes, and rivers.
The Provincial People's Committee has issued the Action Plan on Biodiversity in Vinh Phuc Province to 2030, with a vision to 2050, with the goal of maintaining and effectively protecting the area of Tam Dao National Park by 2030; establishing 3 biodiversity conservation facilities in the province; maintaining a stable forest cover rate of 22 - 25%; restoring at least 20% of the degraded natural ecosystem area; improving forest quality and the value of forest environmental services. At the same time, collecting and preserving at least 80 genetic resources...
By 2050, important natural ecosystems, endangered species, and rare and precious genetic resources will be restored and effectively conserved; biodiversity and ecosystem services will be used sustainably and bring essential benefits to people, contributing to ensuring ecological security, proactively responding to climate change, and sustainable socio-economic development of the province.
Actively deploy and implement, in 2024 alone, the area of newly planted concentrated forests in the province reached more than 601 hectares, an increase of 0.28% compared to the annual plan; the number of scattered planted forestry trees reached 774.8 thousand trees, exceeding the annual plan by 2.76%.
Forest fire prevention and fighting work has been directed with attention, implementing the "4 on-site" motto well, maintaining forest fire warnings and forecasts on the province's media system. In 2024, there was only 1 forest fire in the province; the forest cover rate remained stable at 25%.
In addition, from 2016 to present, the Department of Agriculture has coordinated with the Provincial Buddhist Sangha and localities to release more than 30 tons of fish fry of various types including grass carp, bighead carp, bighead carp, and bighead carp... into rivers and lakes... to contribute to supplementing, regenerating and developing diverse aquatic products in the province.
Continuing to raise public awareness of the essential role of biodiversity for life and sustainable development, in response to the International Day for Biological Diversity 2025 with the theme: "Living in harmony with nature and sustainable development", the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has issued an official dispatch guiding agencies, organizations and communities to carry out many practical activities to protect biodiversity.
It emphasizes that sustainable development goals can only be achieved when people live in harmony with nature, requiring a change in development approaches from exploiting natural resources sustainably to integrating nature-based solutions in national and global development strategies.
Accordingly, agencies, units and localities need to strengthen propaganda, dissemination, raise awareness and responsibility for environmental protection, climate change response, greenhouse gas emission reduction, biodiversity conservation for officials, workers and people through mass media, and commend advanced models in environmental protection.
At the same time, continue with solutions to protect and restore natural ecosystems such as strictly protecting wild, endangered, precious and rare animals and plants that are prioritized for protection; effectively manage biodiversity...
