Raising social awareness of disaster prevention

As a country heavily affected by natural disasters and climate change, Vietnam always strives to prevent and respond to reduce disaster risks.

May 22nd of each year is chosen as "Vietnam's Traditional Day for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control" to raise awareness of the whole society about natural disaster prevention work.

Faced with increasingly extreme weather conditions, Vietnam has shifted from passive response to proactive natural disaster prevention with synchronous and long-term solutions, such as building flood prevention and control works; reviewing, adjusting planning and relocating households out of areas at high risk of landslides and flash floods; prioritizing investment in early warning systems using automatic technology to each village, hamlet, etc.
