According to the German luxury carmaker, the new Mercedes-Benz VLE and VLS will serve customers looking for a flexible family car, an exclusive VIP shuttle or a luxury limousine.

This makes sense in some markets where premium MPVs like the Toyota Alphard dominate over traditional large premium sedans like the S-Class.

Details about the Mercedes-Benz Vision V MPV are still limited at this time, but the company says the concept is underpinned by the new VAN.EA (Electric Vehicle Architecture), which is modular to meet the needs of different customer groups. This platform was announced in 2021 along with other dedicated electric platforms.

Reports say the platform features an 800V electrical system and can be optionally configured with either a single or dual motor, with top variants said to be able to travel over 500km on a single charge.

At launch, the car will come with Level 2 autonomy, with Level 3 and Level 4 features coming later.

Based on the trailers released so far, the Vision V's exterior won't lack for exaggerated design cues that scream "look at me."

The interior also looks like a great place to be, with sci -fi ambient lighting, premium materials, comfortable seating, and even a rollout table large enough to hold a chess board.
