(NLĐO) - The Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper donated 1,000 flags and 50 scholarships to the children of officers and soldiers of the 1st Naval Region and fishermen working and living in Quang Ninh.
On the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025, on January 18th, at Brigade 170, Ha Tu Ward, Ha Long City (Quang Ninh Province), the 1st Naval Region, in coordination with the "Youth for the Homeland's Sea and Islands" Club, organized the program "Springtime of Joint Efforts to Protect the Sea - A New Year Filled with Military-Civilian Solidarity".
The Head of the Political Department of the Navy and representatives from the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper presented gifts to the children of officers and soldiers of Region 1 and the children of fishermen in difficult circumstances in the area.
In this program, the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper donated 1,000 flags and 50 scholarships to children of officers and soldiers serving in Region 1 and fishermen living and working in Quang Ninh province.
Attending the program were Colonel Ho Thanh Hoan, Deputy Head of Political Affairs of the Navy, representatives from the Mass Mobilization Department, Political Department of the Navy, the Commander of Region 1 Command, and Party committees and people in the area where the unit is stationed.
In response to the movement "The whole nation joins hands for the poor - Leaving no one behind" and the program "The Vietnamese Navy as a support for fishermen to thrive and stay at sea," the organizing committee presented hundreds of gifts worth nearly 300 million VND. Among these, the Political Department presented 15 gifts to cadres, youth union members, trade union members, and women's association members suffering from serious illnesses, long-term medical conditions, or difficult family circumstances.
The Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper donated 1,000 flags and 50 scholarships (each worth 1 million VND) to children of officers and soldiers serving in Region 1 and fishermen living and working in Quang Ninh province who are in difficult circumstances, have overcome hardships, achieved high academic results, or are suffering from serious illnesses requiring long-term treatment.
The "Youth for the Homeland's Seas and Islands" Club presented 70 Tet gift boxes (each box worth 3 million VND) to officers and soldiers.
These heartfelt gifts from the Program embody the moral principles of "Remembering the source when drinking water" and "Showing gratitude," which the Navy, the Club, the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, and partner units are striving to fulfill with responsibility and affection for officers, union members, association members, children of officers and soldiers, fishermen, and fishermen in difficult circumstances, those suffering from serious illnesses, and those who have overcome difficulties to excel in their studies, every time Tet (Lunar New Year) comes around.
This activity contributes to fostering and strengthening camaraderie and solidarity between the military and the people, while also promoting and educating about the beautiful traditions and culture of the Vietnamese Lunar New Year; it inspires in each officer and member a spirit of mutual support and compassion, encouraging families in difficult circumstances to continue to uphold the spirit of solidarity and strive to build a prosperous and happy life.
Within the framework of the Program, there were also activities such as: a rice cake wrapping competition, cultural exchange, and a bonfire between officers and soldiers of Region 1 and the "Youth for the Homeland's Sea and Islands" Club, featuring many outstanding theatrical, musical, dance, and circus performances from artists and actors of the Vietnam National Drama Theatre and the Vietnam Circus Federation, the Performing Arts Troupe, and the Political Department of the Navy.
Colonel Ho Thanh Hoan, Deputy Head of Political Affairs of the Navy, shared: "The 'Springtime of Joint Efforts to Protect the Sea - A Tet of Deep Affection Between the Military and the People' program' is a program with profound humanitarian significance; aiming to educate, cultivate, and deeply spread love, solidarity, and sharing among all officers and soldiers of the Navy. Through this program, we aim to promote and educate about the beautiful traditions and culture of the Vietnamese Lunar New Year; to awaken in each officer and youth union member the spirit of mutual support and compassion, visiting and encouraging those in need, especially the children of fishermen's families and fishermen in the area who are facing difficulties. Through this, we strengthen the spirit of solidarity, camaraderie, and the bond between the military and the people, working together wholeheartedly in the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland."
