Forest rangers are stepping up efforts to raise awareness among the people of Tan Son commune, encouraging their active participation in protecting and developing the forest.
The leadership and guidance in implementing the Party's directives, programs, and resolutions, as well as the State's laws on forestry development, have been carried out seriously, systematically, extensively, and effectively. The action programs and plans for implementing Directive 13 have closely followed the Party's viewpoints, policies, orientations, and objectives, and the State's laws and regulations, identifying specific tasks appropriate to the province's socio -economic characteristics and situation.
The province has developed and issued action programs and plans to organize and implement them uniformly. This has led to a significant shift in awareness regarding the role and importance of forests, a change in behavior and habits in daily life, production, and consumption, creating momentum for sustainable forest management, protection, and development, and promoting the socialization of forest management, protection, and development...
With improved effectiveness and efficiency in state management of forest protection and development, steering committees for forest protection and development planning and sustainable forestry development have been promptly reorganized; community forest protection and fire prevention teams in villages and communes have been established, strengthened, and maintained effectively. Annually, the Provincial People's Committee issues documents to strengthen forest protection and development and forest fire prevention and control; implementation plans and fire prevention and control strategies... Local authorities with forests also strengthen guidance on forest management, protection, and fire prevention and control; effectively perform their state management functions in forest protection and development within their areas; and direct functional forces to increase patrols and inspections to detect, prevent, and promptly handle violations of forestry laws.
Comrade Truong Quang Dang – Head of the Forest Utilization and Development Department, Provincial Forest Protection Sub-Department, said: The unit advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue a plan for forest management, protection and development, as well as strengthening forest fire prevention and control during the hot season. Simultaneously, the Sub-Department strengthened the system of local forest ranger stations, especially in key areas; directed forest rangers in charge of the area to advise, coordinate, and guide local authorities and forest owners to effectively carry out forest protection and development work; regularly patrolled and coordinated with local authorities to detect and handle violations in forest management, protection and development; and organized propaganda and mobilization of people to participate in planting, caring for and protecting forests, and preventing and fighting forest fires.
The production of forestry seedlings is a priority for people in the province, helping to increase the value of planted forests.
Regarding forest development, the province has reviewed and replanned the three types of forests and controlled socio-economic development plans and projects that negatively impact forests. Simultaneously, it has focused on developing forest planting, enclosure and nurturing, promoting regeneration, and rational forest exploitation. Alongside this, with the goal of increasing productivity, forming large-scale raw material production areas, and increasing the value of planted forests, the province has directed the Forestry sector and localities to effectively implement programs and policies supporting sustainable forestry development from the central and provincial governments, with particular emphasis on encouraging the planting and conversion of large timber forests; and promoting the issuance of Sustainable Forest Management certifications. In addition, to ensure the productivity and quality of production forests, the work of ensuring the quality of seedlings, planting techniques, and care has also been effectively implemented through enhanced coordination between specialized agencies and local authorities.
Under the comprehensive direction of the province, with close coordination and efforts from all levels, sectors, units, localities, and forest owners in forest protection and development, the effectiveness of forest management has significantly improved. Forestry violations have been increasingly reduced, the area of natural forests has been well maintained and protected, and forest resources have been utilized. In particular, the awareness and responsibility of forest owners and the people regarding forest management, protection, and development, as well as forest fire prevention and control, have been increasingly enhanced.
From the beginning of the year until now, the entire province has planted approximately 15,300 hectares of concentrated forest and 5.4 million scattered trees; and cared for 53,400 hectares of planted forest. The total timber production reached 1.8 million cubic meters. The forest cover rate reached 43.5%. Notably, the quality of the forest has improved significantly, with 60,700 hectares of forest receiving sustainable management certification, and the area of large timber forests expanding to over 26,800 hectares.
These comprehensive results demonstrate strong progress, meeting the requirements of forest management, protection, and development, in accordance with the province's specific conditions. In the coming period, Party committees and authorities at all levels will focus on implementing many synchronized solutions, emphasizing the role and responsibility of Party members in forest management and protection. They will strengthen supervision of the implementation of state management responsibilities in forest protection and development by all levels of government, forest rangers, and relevant functional agencies... They will also promote forest development, improve the quality and productivity of planted forests, and link this with the restructuring of the forestry sector towards increasing added value and sustainable development.
