Strengthening solutions to preserve forests during hot season

Leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Provincial Forest Protection Department inspected forest fire prevention and control work in Nghi Son town.

Quan Hoa district currently has 86,134 hectares of forest. To proactively prevent and combat forest fires during the hot season of 2025, Quan Hoa Forest Protection Department has developed a plan for preventing and combating forest fires; completed mass forest protection teams and propaganda teams in villages and hamlets to promote propaganda andeducation on forestry laws to a large number of cadres, party members and the people. In particular, in key areas with high risk of forest fires, the department has advised the People's Committee of Quan Hoa district to build forest fire prevention works, firebreaks, renovate and repair bulletin boards and signs for preventing and combating forest fires; organized training courses on forest fire prevention and combat; reviewed and supplemented plans and maps for forest fire fighting operations according to the "4 on-site" motto, plans to mobilize forces, means, equipment, and logistics for forest fire fighting from the district level to the key village and hamlet levels for forest fires. Along with that, the unit coordinated with Hien Kiet Border Guard Station and Vieng Xay District (Laos) to propagate to officers and people on both sides of the border to strictly comply with regulations on forest protection and forest fire prevention and control.

Mr. Trinh Dang Tinh, Deputy Head of the Forest Protection and Violation Handling Department, Provincial Forest Protection Department, said: According to the review, the province currently has 48,585 hectares of key fire areas concentrated in the western mountainous districts and districts and towns with pine forests in the plains and coastal areas. To prevent and control forest fires in the hot season of 2025, the Provincial Forest Protection Department has advised the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Provincial People's Committee to direct the implementation of solutions for forest fire prevention and control; Advise local authorities to strengthen the direction of implementing forest protection and fire prevention management work according to Conclusion No. 61-KL/TW, dated August 17, 2023 of the Secretariat on "Strengthening the Party's leadership in forest management, protection and development; deploying the forest protection and fire prevention plan of Thanh Hoa province, period 2021-2025 to all localities. Continue to advise on consolidating and perfecting the steering committee for implementing the sustainable forestry development program at all levels; coordinate with all levels, sectors, and local authorities to promote propaganda work to the masses of people and communities, forest owners on forest protection and fire prevention work. Along with that, the forest rangers advise the People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities to direct the People's Committees of communes and towns to guide people in using fire in production, cultivation, burning and treating vegetation, especially in areas near forests; regularly inspect, monitor and guide people in production slash-and-burn cultivation in accordance with regulations. Coordinate with communes, wards, towns, and forest owners to organize patrols, guard against forest fires, and strictly manage people entering and leaving the forest during times of high risk of forest fires. Strictly prohibit bringing fire, explosives, and flammable substances into the forest; strictly manage and handle forest cover to effectively prevent and prevent fires from spreading into the forest. From the beginning of 2025 to now, 454 hectares of forests have been cleared and burned under controlled conditions under pine forests and high-risk planted forests; 331 hectares of combustible materials under the forest canopy have been reduced. In addition, 11 high-resolution IP camera stations used to take pictures of forests to meet the requirements of automatic early detection of forest fires continue to be effective. Coordinate with the mass mobilization system, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and organizations, the police force, border guards, and local authorities to promote propaganda and education on laws on forest fire prevention and control; gradually socialize the management, forest fire prevention and control work.

In addition, the forest rangers of border districts, such as Muong Lat, Quan Hoa, Quan Son, Lang Chanh, Thuong Xuan, advised local authorities to closely coordinate with district authorities and border hamlets of Hua Phan province (Laos) to promote propaganda for officials and people on both sides of the border to strictly comply with fire prevention and control regulations; arrange forces and means to be ready to prevent fires from spreading from Hua Phan province to the border districts of the province.

According to the hydrometeorological forecasting agency, in 2025, the hot weather will still be complicated, so the proactive work of forest protection and fire prevention of the provincial forestry sector will contribute to minimizing the occurrence of forest fires.
