(Baoquanngai.vn) - At noon on August 4, at the Grand Mercure Danang Hotel (Da Nang City), the provincial delegation led by Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Hoang Tuan had a meeting with Governor of Jeju Province (Korea) Oh Young-hun.
Accompanying the delegation were Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of Dung Quat Economic Zone and Provincial Industrial Zones Management Board Ha Hoang Viet Phuong; leaders of the Department of Foreign Affairs; Department of Planning and Investment; Ly Son district and representatives of relevant agencies and units.
On the side of Jeju province leaders, there were Jeju Governor Oh Young-hun, along with leaders and officials in charge of relevant sectors and fields. In particular, the meeting also included the Korean Consul General in Da Nang, Kang Boosung.
QUANG NGAI, A LAND OF MUCH POTENTIAL
Receiving and working with the delegation, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Hoang Tuan expressed his respect and joy when welcoming Jeju Provincial Governor Oh Young-hun and the delegation to attend the meeting.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee gave a general introduction to the delegation about the geographical features, socio -economic development situation, cultural and tourism potential of the province. Quang Ngai is located along the South Central Coast, with a 130km long coastline, has an important strategic position in the key economic region of Central Vietnam, has Dung Quat deep-water seaport, with the ability to receive ships with a capacity of up to 200,000 DWT. In particular, Quang Ngai has Ly Son island district, where the quintessence of major cultures intersects, with the full value of geological, historical, cultural and archaeological heritage; wild landscape, with a dense complex of relics.

Quang Ngai's economy is developing dynamically. In 2022, the economic growth scale will rank 18th nationwide and 2nd among 5 provinces in the Central key economic region; there are many advantages and potentials for developing the marine economy and industries. In addition, the province also has advantages in developing agriculture - forestry - fishery, tourism - services, textiles, processing of agricultural, forestry and fishery products, food, and logistics services.
Currently, the province has an economic zone and industrial parks, of which Dung Quat Economic Zone (Binh Son) with a total area of over 45.3 thousand hectares is a key coastal industrial center of the South Central Coast region. The province's strategy in the current period is to focus on investing and developing Dung Quat Economic Zone into a specialized, green, smart and sustainably developed coastal economic zone; gradually converting the existing industrial park model into an ecological industrial park model, developing Dung Quat Economic Zone into a national petrochemical and energy center and Ly Son Island into a national sea and island tourism center.
Currently, the province has also identified two main pillars out of four pillars of marine and island economic development. These are building and developing Dung Quat Economic Zone and coastal urban areas; developing marine tourism and island economy, building Ly Son island into an island district strong in tourism and fisheries economy.

Along with the advantages of socio-economic development, Quang Ngai is also a land with great potential for culture and tourism. This is the place where the quintessence of ancient Vietnamese cultures converge, including Sa Huynh Culture with a history of more than 3,000 years. Nature has also bestowed upon the province many famous landscapes, with interesting geomorphology and geology, which are valuable resources for tourism development.
Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Hoang Tuan affirmed the province's top priority in implementing policies, orientations and cooperation strategies with Korean agencies, organizations, partners and enterprises, on the basis of the good diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Korea. Over the past 30 years, the relationship between the two countries has brought about many good results.
There are currently about 15 Korean enterprises operating in the province. In fact, many enterprises operate effectively, contributing positively to the socio-economic development and social security work of the province, typically Doosan Enerbility Vietnam Co., Ltd. In this meeting, the province wishes to share information to learn about the possibilities and opportunities for bilateral cooperation with Jeju province; the business community of Jeju province in particular, and Korea in general in the coming time. Establish an official friendly cooperative relationship between the two localities; promote extensive exchange and cooperation activities in many fields.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR COOPERATION AND INVESTMENT PROMOTION IN MANY FIELDS
The priority and key areas of cooperation in the coming time suggested by the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee include: cultural exchange and promotion, sea and island tourism, geological heritage; research and expansion of tourism markets; cooperation in developing the tourism and service industry.
The province hopes that Jeju province will have orientations to support tourism planning; preserve and restore relics and scenic spots; cooperate in training Korean interpreters and human resources for tourism and services. “Hopefully, with the support and consensus of the two countries, the two provincial governments, and businesses will actively and proactively participate in cooperation and investment promotion activities in many fields. Quang Ngai hopes to welcome the Governor, his colleagues and Jeju businesses to visit, learn and work in the coming time, so that the two sides can enhance mutual understanding, develop an increasingly close, good and sustainable relationship; soon reach a joint signing of a memorandum of understanding, a cooperation agreement, creating an important legal basis for the implementation of the following contents, deepening the relationship and cooperation between the two localities”, affirmed Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Hoang Tuan.
Jeju is a famous tourist island in Korea. It welcomes about 1.5 million visitors each year. In addition to promoting the development of the tourism industry, in recent years, Jeju has been promoting the energy production and manufacturing industry. Through research and study, Jeju and Ly Son have many similarities in many fields, especially in natural conditions, culture and tourism.

Jeju Governor Oh Young-hun highly appreciated the proposal of the province to meet this time. Thereby, creating conditions for the delegation to have the opportunity to research and seek cooperation opportunities with Quang Ngai; contributing to promoting the strategic and comprehensive cooperation relationship between Jeju province and localities, agencies and units in Vietnam. This is considered a good first step, gradually connecting and promoting the culture and tourism of the two localities to develop to their full potential; effectively supporting the socio-economic development of Quang Ngai.
Exchanges and cooperation between the two localities will be promoted quickly through the Korean Consulate General in Da Nang and the departments and agencies of the two localities. Jeju Governor Oh Young-hun will pay a special visit to Quang Ngai and respectfully invite provincial leaders, representatives of departments, agencies, and units of Quang Ngai to visit Jeju province in the coming time.
