Strengthening communication on prevention and control of dengue fever

Khanh Hoa Province Center for Disease Control has just issued an official dispatch requesting relevant units to coordinate with the health sector to strengthen communication on dengue fever prevention and control in the province.

According to the Provincial Center for Disease Control, the number of dengue fever cases tends to increase the most each year from May to November, so proactively implementing prevention and control measures before the epidemic season is very important. Therefore, the Provincial Center for Disease Control recommends that relevant agencies and units, especially the radio and television systems in the province, strengthen information and communication work on dengue fever prevention and control. In particular, focusing on communication about some manifestations of the disease (in mild cases: Sudden high fever of 39 - 40 degrees Celsius, lasting 2 - 7 days, difficult to reduce fever; severe headache in the forehead; behind the eyeballs; possible rash).

Health workers are turning water containers upside down in people's gardens.

Severe cases: Petechiae appear on the skin, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, bruises at the injection site, vomiting blood, black stools; abdominal pain, nausea, cold limbs, restlessness, panic (shock syndrome due to internal bleeding causing blood loss, low blood pressure, if not given emergency care and timely treatment can lead to death). Measures to prevent dengue fever: Kill mosquito larvae by releasing fish into water containers, changing water in vases, turning over containers that do not contain water, putting salt or oil or larvicidal chemicals in bowls of water placed on the counter; remove waste materials, natural water holes, do not allow mosquitoes to lay eggs; cover all water containers; sleep under mosquito nets. At the same time, people actively cooperate with the health sector in mosquito larvae extermination campaigns and chemical spraying campaigns to prevent and control epidemics...

Since the beginning of the year, the province has recorded more than 4,800 cases of dengue fever, with 50 active outbreaks. All outbreaks have been and are being investigated, monitored, and handled.
