Domestic tourists have returned to Quang Ninh after the natural disaster.

Since the beginning of August 2025, domestic tourists have returned to visit Quang Ninh after a short period of sharp decline in the number of visitors due to concerns over the ship capsize in Ha Long Bay due to storms on July 19.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh province informed that in the first week of August, the province welcomed an average of 7,000 - 8,000 visitors per day. Quang Ninh urgently implemented solutions to enhance safety for tourists such as:

Upgrading communication equipment for the fleet; adding 6 temporary storm shelters in Ha Long Bay; approving the policy of installing storm, tornado, and lightning warning systems in some key locations, especially in Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay and coastal areas. The Provincial Military Command arranged a medical ship and 2 mobile boats, deploying 24/24 hour patrols every day...

The province has proactively organized tourism promotion in localities across the country. Chairman of the Quang Ninh Tourism Association Nguyen The Hue shared that through tourism promotion, many travel agencies in neighboring localities have committed to restoring and reconnecting tours to Quang Ninh.

It is expected that the Provincial Tourism Association will organize a tourism stimulus conference in September 2025 and a national tourism forum in Quang Ninh in October 2025. The tourism industry will proactively work with a number of trade union organizations of large economic groups, travel businesses in the North and South, and tourism KOLs (influencers) to find ways to bring domestic tourists to Quang Ninh.

Head of the Tourism Department, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh province, Doan Manh Linh, said that since the beginning of the year, the international tourist market to Quang Ninh has been quite stable. The number of international visitors accounts for a large proportion, concentrated in the markets of Japan, the Philippines, and Malaysia. It is expected that in mid-August 2025, Quang Ninh will welcome many visitors from the Korean market through MICE tourism (tourism combined with conferences and seminars). By September, the province will welcome a stream of high-paying guests, including billionaires from the US market...

To affirm Quang Ninh as an attractive and safe tourist destination, many businesses have boldly launched new products to increase its appeal. Sun Group Corporation has launched the fireworks display "Lighting up the Bay of Wonders" on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at Bai Chay tourist area; Kite Festival, Boat Racing Festival in September; Food Festival in October.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Thanh Tung, from now until the end of 2025, the province will continue to organize many typical events and activities to attract tourists and people. These include the 2025 National U23 Fencing Championship, Introducing culinary culture and honoring good chefs of Quang Ninh in 2025, the 2025 Northeast - Quang Ninh OCOP Fair, the Ha Long Bay Heritage International Marathon, the 2025 Yen Tu Heritage Marathon...

In August 2025, the tourism industry will focus on researching and developing tourism products associated with Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac; products connecting the two World Heritage Sites of Ha Long Bay with Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac; developing a communication and promotion plan to attract tourists to visit and worship the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac Complex of Monuments and Landscapes, which has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

In the first 7 months of 2025, Quang Ninh attracted more than 14.6 million tourists, up 13% over the same period last year; including more than 2.6 million international visitors. Tourism revenue is estimated at VND 36,700 billion, up 25% over the same period. Quang Ninh aims to welcome 20 million tourists in 2025; including 4.5 million international visitors.
