Many people think that in Vietnam, students should be banned from using cell phones in school.

Many readers have sent comments to Thanh Nien Online after the article Should we firmly ban students from using cell phones in school?

Readers' opinions are also divided into two different streams of opinion. Some say "it should be banned, absolutely banned". The other side says "it shouldn't be, consider it a tool for studying and a means of communication with students' families".

On the afternoon of February 20, Thanh Nien Online conducted a reader survey with the question: "Should students be banned from using cell phones in school?". After 24 hours of voting, 69% of readers chose "Yes". In the opposite answer, only 31% of readers chose.

UK: Resolutely ban students from using phones in school

Some comments sent to the editorial office by readers, Thanh Nien Online would like to publish:

"It should be banned. Students of all levels are absolutely not allowed to bring cell phones to school" (anonymous reader).

"Prohibit it outright and absolutely. In the past, our generation did not have it, but later we realized that childhood and school life were truly innocent and joyful, but nowadays, parents always use the excuse of having something to contact, which is completely wrong. If you have any problems, you need to contact the teachers and school" (vanman12345hcm).

"Yes. However, teachers should also limit the use of phones while in class" (Thuy Dang).

"That's great! Teachers are lecturing but they're always looking at their phones under the desk" (Nguyen Dau).

"Private schools are absolutely forbidden" (Binh Le Thanh).

"When students use their phones, they are affected: watching TikTok clips, accessing gaming websites and harmful content. During recess, they only focus on one place to play games. I support banning the use of phones in primary and secondary schools" (HieuDuy).

"In my opinion, the use of cell phones during class should be absolutely banned. Teachers are lecturing, but students are "buried" in their cell phones "clicking, swiping", so how can teachers be interested in the lecture? In any era, even the era of technology, students must respect teachers and be polite to them at least. Outside of class hours, but in school, students must also follow school rules. If the rules prohibit it, they must comply" (Anh Kiet).

Some schools in Ho Chi Minh City prohibit students from using cell phones in school, including during recess. Students use cell phones before entering school and after leaving.

"Oh, no, no, no". (9LW3ttC57hGWagBQVraSnA).

"Why not 'kick the ball' of the phone to the school? It directly affects the quality of teaching and discipline of the school. It should be within the school's own regulations" (dat vu).

"It should be banned, because social networks are very complicated. And the kids are too young" (Tran Trong Tuong).

"I think that schools are places to educate students, depending on their age and grade level, to guide and supervise them in using mobile phones to serve their studies well during class. At the same time, we need to teach them how to protect themselves in cyberspace. During class, if teachers agree, students can use mobile phones for study purposes" (lankhue).

"I think it should not be banned because it is a means of communication that helps parents stay in touch with their children. We should consult developed countries and then come up with a solution suitable for Vietnam" (Tran Quang Thai).

"What is the use of developing science and technology? In this 4.0 era, if you say you can't use phones, then let the children use 'brick' phones so they can call their families when needed" (Lan Ki).
