This proposal was made by Tokyu Group at a meeting between Mr. Bui Minh Tri, Vice Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee and Mr. Hirohisa Fujiwara, International Business Director of Tokyu Group on March 20.
Informing the leaders of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Hirohisa Fujiwara said that in the coming time, Tokyu Group will continue to cooperate with Binh Duong to develop the city with the goal of becoming a green, smart and livable city.
Mr. Hirohisa Fujiwara hopes that in the coming time, Binh Duong province will create conditions for the Becamex Tokyu joint venture to conduct a pre-feasibility study of the light rail line (LRT) in Thu Dau Mot city.

After listening to the proposal of the Tokyu Group's leaders, Mr. Bui Minh Tri, Vice Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the public transport system, especially the light rail (LRT), is one of the areas that Binh Duong province pays special attention to in order to gradually complete and create a transportation network to serve the travel needs of people in urban areas.
The light rail transit (LRT) is expected to create a breakthrough in the development of urban transport infrastructure in Thu Dau Mot City.
Vice Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee believes that Tokyu Group as well as Becamex Tokyu will continue to accompany the province to expand cooperation in many fields, continuing to implement projects in the coming time.
Besides investing in the light rail line, Binh Duong province is researching a metro line connecting Thu Dau Mot City to Suoi Tien Bus Station on metro line 1 of Ho Chi Minh City.
The project has a total length of 32.43 km, including a 29 km main line and a 3.42 km connecting section to the depot. This metro line is invested in a double track, 1,435 mm gauge, designed speed of 120 km/h with a total investment of 64,370 billion VND.
According to the plan of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee, the project will start construction in 2027 and be completed and put into operation from 2031.
