Thai Nguyen: Pedagogical University devastated after flood, transcripts and seals floating everywhere

Over the past few days, Thai Nguyen province has been experiencing heavy to very heavy rain; rainfall in some places has reached nearly 500mm. Along with that, the Cau River water from upstream has caused residential areas to be isolated. In particular, the University of Education - Thai Nguyen University was also deeply flooded and isolated.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tu Ngoc Tan, Vice Principal of the University of Education, said that the recent floods have caused serious damage to the school. Accordingly, the school has 8 buildings, 7 of which had their first floors flooded. Meanwhile, the system of machinery, equipment, lecture halls, and meeting rooms on the first floor were all damaged. In particular, the school's core library system, which had just been invested with more than 80 billion VND, was flooded and damaged. Preliminary damage from the recent floods was estimated at several hundred billion VND.
According to Associate Professor Tan, during the recent flood, 90% of the houses and residences of the school's staff and lecturers were isolated. However, after the flood receded, many staff, workers and students of the school came to clean up and sanitize the environment. In addition, other schools in the province also sent students to help. However, there is currently no water, so cleaning up is difficult.
Machinery and documents were submerged in water, most of them were damaged.

Students' files and transcripts were flooded. The school said it would dry them out to "save" them.
The school also hopes that students and local authorities will join hands and share the difficulties with the University of Education in the current period.
