Pregnant women should pay attention to how to mix milk, dosage, time of drinking and change type when necessary to improve health and help the fetus develop.

Pregnancy milk is specially formulated for pregnant and lactating women. Essential nutrients in the product such as DHA, folic acid, iron, zinc, calcium... help strengthen the immune system of pregnant women, helping the fetus develop optimally.

Master, Doctor Nguyen Anh Duy Tung, Nutrihome Nutrition Clinic System, recommends that pregnant women should consult their doctor to choose the right type of maternity milk.

If pregnant women are tired and dizzy, they can choose milk with high iron and zinc content to improve the condition. People who often suffer from cramps and body aches should use products rich in calcium, which helps reduce cramps and balance the skeletal system. When the fetus develops slower than the standard, pregnant women should drink milk rich in protein, calcium, vitamins, and minerals to support the baby's comprehensive development.

Maternity milk usually provides a full range of easily absorbed nutrients including iron (prevents the risk of anemia during pregnancy), folic acid (reduces the risk of birth defects), DHA (enhances vision), calcium (helps develop strong bones and teeth), and fiber (supports digestion and maintains the stability of the digestive system).

Pregnant mothers need to pay attention to the flavor of the product, prioritizing familiar, refreshing, easy-to-drink flavors. You should choose reputable maternity milk, with a modern production process, ensuring safety and meeting high quality standards.

Doctor Duy Tung advises pregnant women the following to receive optimal benefits when drinking maternity milk.

How to mix milk : Read the instructions carefully, mix the milk according to the recommended ratio. Do not mix too thick or too thin because it will affect the nutritional content and the mother's digestive system. Pregnant mothers should use the measuring spoon provided in the milk box. Do not estimate by eye because it may cause incorrect ratios. Shake the box gently before opening to prevent the milk powder from clumping.

Use clean, boiled water to mix the milk. Depending on the type, the water used to mix the milk should be around 40-50 degrees Celsius. Water that is too hot will destroy the nutrients in the milk. Water that is too cold cannot dissolve all the powdered milk.

Dosage : Pregnant women need to supplement 3-6 units of maternity milk per day (depending on the stage), equivalent to 300-600 ml of maternity milk per day. Drinking too much maternity milk, excess nutrients can be harmful to both mother and baby. For example, mothers gaining too much weight increases the risk of gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, preeclampsia. Overweight fetuses lead to consequences such as heart failure, respiratory failure, hypothermia... Abusing maternity milk also increases the risk of pregnancy constipation, bloating, indigestion.

Time to drink maternity milk : Drink maternity milk about 1-2 hours after breakfast and about two hours before going to bed at night. Do not drink milk while eating because it causes indigestion and overloads the stomach. Pregnant women should drink milk immediately after mixing it. They can store the mixed maternity milk in the refrigerator and use it within 24 hours. Do not leave it for too long because it will spoil and lose nutrients.

How to drink milk for pregnant women : Pregnant women should drink milk slowly, in small sips. After drinking, avoid taking medicine because it can reduce the effect and hinder the ability to absorb nutrients. This can cause side effects that are not good for your health.

Pregnant women should not force themselves to drink a fixed type of milk. If they find that the milk is not suitable, they should consult a doctor to change, but limit changing too many times because it slows down the absorption of nutrients.

Dr. Tung noted that maternity milk cannot completely replace a balanced, nutritious diet. Pregnant women need to ensure adequate nutrition for themselves and their fetuses, and have regular prenatal checkups and pregnancy nutrition checkups so that doctors can advise on a balanced, scientific diet.
