On the morning of October 13, the Provincial Gardening Association organized a training course and visited a model of raising black apple snails and catfish on a household scale in Na Khan hamlet, Dai Tien commune (Hoa An). Attending the event were 60 members representing gardening associations and professional associations across the province.
Mr. Ma Van Chung's black snail and catfish farming model was deployed from June 2023 on an area of 2,000m2 , raised by investing in tarpaulin tanks with water pipes. The farming scale includes: over 50,000 catfish, 2,000 loaches, 50 kg of hatched snail eggs. In addition, 400 green dam, anh vu and cau fish were tested; 200 elephant goby. The total initial investment of the model is nearly 200 million VND. After nearly 4 months of implementation, the survival rate after release reached 70%; snails and fish are in the stage of good growth and development.
During the visit, members learned and shared experiences on how to choose a suitable farming location, pond preparation stages, seed selection and stocking stages; food and feeding methods; disease prevention for snails and fish; care techniques; harvesting and linking in product consumption...
This is a model that exploits the potential and advantages of the locality in developing aquaculture, creating clean products for the market, contributing to solving employment and increasing income for rural workers. A successful model will provide breeds and transfer techniques to people raising aquaculture.
