Barcelona beat Sociedad to stay at the top of La Liga

(Dan Tri) - Barcelona won a resounding 4-0 victory over Sociedad at home at the Olimpic Lluis Companys Stadium in round 26 of La Liga on the evening of March 2, thereby maintaining the top position in the rankings.

Yesterday, Real Madrid lost to Real Betis and Atletico beat Bilbao, the La Liga title race is becoming more exciting. Barcelona is determined to win 3 points against Sociedad at home to return to the top of the table.

Coach Hansi Flick fielded an attacking lineup with stars Dani Olmo, Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Lewandowski. Immediately after the opening whistle, Barcelona pushed up their formation in search of a goal.

Barcelona took an early advantage when Elustondo was sent off in the 17th minute for pulling down Dani Olmo. Playing with one less man, Sociedad had to play defensively and try to fend off Barcelona's fierce attacks.

Barcelona's pressure was materialized in the 25th minute, Lamine Yamal broke through bravely and passed to Dani Olmo, the midfielder immediately assisted Martin to open the score for the Catalan club.

Four minutes later, goalkeeper Remiro tried to push the ball away after a Raphinha corner kick. Dani Olmo rushed in to finish, the ball hit Casado and flew straight into the Sociedad net. Barcelona led 2-0 after the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, Barca played leisurely, they maintained their attacking tempo and scored the third goal in the 56th minute. Lewandowski headed the ball but could not beat the Sociedad goalkeeper and Araujo was able to rush in and finish the ball into the opponent's net, increasing the gap to 3-0.

In the 60th minute, Araujo shot from a distance and Lewandowski managed to change the direction of the ball, thereby helping Barcelona increase the score to 4-0. This was also the final result of this match and Barcelona rose to the top of La Liga with 57 points, one point more than Atletico and three points more than Real Madrid.
