Kosmos Opera makes its mark at "What Lasts"

Every National Day, September 2, the National Concert " What remains forever " resounds like a patriotic epic, honoring the beauty and enduring vitality of Vietnamese music . 2025 is the third consecutive year that the Kosmos Opera Choir has been invited to participate. For artist Trinh Thanh Binh - the group's founder, this is a source of great pride.

"Being invited to participate for three consecutive years is an affirmation of the professional quality and serious working spirit of the entire team. In particular, 2025 has a great historical significance, making our presence at the program not only an honor but also the result of persistent efforts, overcoming many challenges," artist Thanh Binh told VietNamNet.

For two consecutive years participating in Dieu Con Mai, Kosmos Opera had the opportunity to work with Sun Symphony Orchestra - Vietnam's leading symphony orchestra under the baton of conductor Olivier Ochanine.

Artist Thanh Binh commented: "Mr. Olivier is an experienced conductor who knows how to listen, understand and skillfully connect all musical personalities. Thanks to that, artists are sublimated and audiences have a complete experience. That harmony also shows that Vietnamese music and identity can completely integrate naturally and beautifully with the world ."

Dream of bringing Vietnamese opera into international integration

This year, Kosmos Opera will perform five choral works, fewer than last year but with a marked increase in difficulty and requirements. The artists begin practicing very early with high intensity and absolute concentration.

When asked about the 5 works Kosmos Opera will perform in What Remains Forever 2025 , artist Thanh Binh said: "The musical script for What Remains Forever 2025 is very good, meaningful and interesting. It is a seamless, subtle blend of many historical moments, of different spaces and times."

Every time the Marching Song resounds , it is not just music but a call from the heart of history. Each of our hearts always vibrates and feels intensely proud when we are able to join in it.

Hue - Saigon - Hanoi (composer Trinh Cong Son), a love song of three regions, gentle and profound. With the chamber music arrangement by musician Tran Manh Hung, the work becomes an emotional journey, connecting the listener's soul with each land.

We are police officers (composer Trong Bang) was released in 1967, the song depicts the spirit of "Loyal to the Party, serving the people for life". When played in chorus, this march is both majestic and intimate, expressing the firm belief in police officers on the front lines against crime.

Fourth is Saigon is so beautiful (composer Y Van). The melody praises the dynamic beauty, full of vitality of the city named after Uncle Ho. The classic cheerfulness takes on a new vitality.

The fifth is As if Uncle Ho were here on the great victory day (composer Pham Tuyen). Composed right before the historic moment of April 30, 1975, the song is the joyful cry of the entire nation. Each verse resounds like a word of gratitude and boundless pride for the Father of the nation.

All works are newly arranged by musician Tran Manh Hung, keeping the original soul but adding new layers of harmony, giving them a bright and lively coat, elevating emotions.

Each work in What Remains Forever is a piece of national memory, recalling past historical milestones, nurturing pride and urging responsibility for the future. For artists, it is an opportunity to dedicate their talents and convey their love for the Fatherland through each note of music.

For artist Thanh Binh, when witnessing Kosmos Opera on stage, what remains forever is to live fully in the moment of convergence of art and history. Seeing the audience's eyes light up, their hearts beating in unison is a happiness that cannot be measured in words.

Dream of bringing Vietnamese opera into international integration

Artist Thanh Binh believes that opera does not set any boundaries: "Music belongs to everyone. Beauty can be felt from many angles. Just open your heart to let the melody and sound colors touch you, you will find your own vibrations".

Kosmos Opera is nurturing many projects to bring opera closer to the Vietnamese public. With all their enthusiasm, artist Thanh Binh and young talents want to prove that opera, despite its classical beauty, can still live in contemporary life, close, warm and full of vitality.

In addition to his personal career, the founder of Kosmos Opera shares that he is fortunate to have a happy family. His wife - flute artist Hong Anh - always accompanies, understands and shares with her husband in every moment of life.
