During the National Day holiday on September 2, the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel National Monument attracts thousands of people from the province and the whole country every day to visit, offer incense, pay tribute to the heroic martyrs.
According to the Management Board of the General Secretary Le Duan Memorial Site and Quang Tri Ancient Citadel, from August 30 to September 2, the site welcomed nearly 10,000 visitors. In particular, on September 2, more than 3,800 visitors came to visit and offer incense in memory.
This is considered a "record" number of visitors, many times higher than previous occasions.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Loc (Tan Vinh quarter, Nam Dong Ha ward, Quang Tri province) said that after watching the movie Red Rain , he was really moved and wanted to bring his family to offer incense at Quang Tri Citadel.
The film recreates part of the sacrifice of our ancestors during 81 days and nights of historical fire and smoke. Standing in this space, feeling each brick and meter of land soaked in blood and bones, his family feels more clearly the value of independence and freedom. He wants his children to understand that today's peace does not come naturally, it is the price paid with the blood and bones of many previous generations.

Coming to the Citadel, he not only hopes that his children will know gratitude but also learn to love the Fatherland and the responsibility to protect the country of the next generation. Therefore, the National Day on September 2nd becomes even more sacred to his family.
Quang Tri town during the 81 days and nights from June 28, 1972 to September 16, 1972 was likened to a "bomb bag."
Western press at that time commented that, during 81 days and nights of war, the number of bombs and mines dropped on Quang Tri Citadel was equivalent to 7 atomic bombs that the US dropped on Hiroshima, Japan in 1945.
Under the destructive power of a huge amount of bombs and bullets, Quang Tri town, less than 3 square kilometers wide, was quickly leveled and the ancient citadel built during the Nguyen Dynasty with a perimeter of nearly 2,000 meters was left with only piles of rubble.
During those 81 fierce days and nights, each passing moment was filled with sacrifice and loss, but the liberation army soldiers created a towering monument of steadfast will and aspiration for independence and unification.
The fiery battle of the Citadel in 1972 has gone down in history as an immortal epic, becoming a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism, forever engraved in the history of the Vietnamese people's fight against foreign invaders.
The film Red Rain was born from the script of writer Chu Lai, taking the theme of this heroic historical event, deeply depicting the heroic sacrifice of heroes and martyrs with the tragic image of "every inch of land is an inch of blood" of the nation as well as the stature and significance of the war.
This is also a profound gratitude, commemorating the heroic martyrs and affirming the sacred value of independence, freedom and peace today. Ms. Cap Thi Thien Trang, Head of the Management Board of the General Secretary Le Duan Memorial Site and Quang Tri Ancient Citadel, said that in order to serve people from all over the country who come to pay their respects, offer incense and visit on the occasion of National Day September 2, the Management Board has mobilized 100% of cadres, workers and civil servants to be on duty regularly, organize explanations, guides and services day and night.

In addition, the unit also coordinates with functional forces to ensure security and order, environmental sanitation and logistics, creating a solemn, safe and most convenient space for people and tourists.
Each officer and employee identifies this as not only a professional task but also a sacred responsibility, contributing to preserving the dignity of the relic, spreading the tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source", and expressing gratitude for the great contributions of the heroic martyrs who fell for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland today.
Currently, the Management Board is urgently implementing activities in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to prepare for the screening of the film Red Rain at the Relic Site for families of martyrs, wounded soldiers, meritorious people and local people./.
