After 5 years of implementing the Resolution of the Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term, Thanh Hai has identified the marine economy as a driving force for development. In the field of seafood exploitation, the whole commune has 402 boats/75,826 CV. The commune has established 9 solidarity groups for marine exploitation with 123 fishing boats, 3 fishing unions with 98 members. After 5 years, the total seafood exploitation output of the whole commune reached 64,065 tons, reaching 156% of the target. In the field of aquaculture, the commune has mobilized fishermen to invest in raising lobsters, cobia, fish in cages, snails, seaweed and some other fish species with an output of 870.12 tons. In addition, the locality also focuses on developing fish processing facilities and logistics services, including steamed fish processing with 15 processing facilities operating regularly, with a total output of processed finished products reaching 19,072 tons, reaching 101% of the target. Thanks to that, the socio-economy in Thanh Hai commune is increasingly developing, the rural landscape has changed a lot, people's income is increasing day by day; the poverty rate has decreased to 0.91%, an average decrease of 0.1% per year according to the new poverty standard.
In addition to developing its strengths in aquaculture, Thanh Hai commune also focuses on developing cultivation and livestock, creating diversity in agricultural production. Forming and developing concentrated specialized production areas; building models of water-saving irrigation production, large fields, and production according to VietGAP. Applying science and technology to production to increase the productivity of onions, garlic and other crops. Up to now, the whole commune has 3 OCOP products achieving 3 stars including: Thanh Hai purple onions, Thanh Hai garlic and Tu Phung fish sauce.
New rural construction is one of the key goals of Thanh Hai commune in the past term. In recent years, the commune has invested heavily in infrastructure, especially transportation, electricity, water, schools, and public services. As a result, the commune achieved advanced new rural standards in 2020. Up to now, the commune continues to maintain and has 3/4 villages: My Tan 1, My Phong, My Hiep achieving new rural standards, including My Tan 1 model village. With solid inter-commune and inter-district traffic routes, it facilitates people's travel and transportation of goods. The electricity network and clean water system have also been invested, helping people access essential services in daily life and activities. Medical facilities and schools have been upgraded, meeting the needs of learning and health care for people.
