In a room of only about 20 square meters , a class on digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) applications took place enthusiastically. The students in the class were all over 60 years old, some were over 85.

This is a model of "digital transformation and AI class" organized by Mr. Dinh Ngoc Son - Secretary of the Party Cell of Residential Area No. 9 (Cau Giay Ward, Hanoi City), former Deputy Head of the Department of Radio and Television, Academy of Journalism and Propaganda - free of charge, to help the elderly not be left behind in the digital transformation period, when technology is increasingly becoming a useful tool in life.

After 3 months, Mr. Son organized 10 classes, with more than 100 elderly people supported in using chatbots and popular applications; improved knowledge of preventing and combating fraud in cyberspace...

Mr. Dinh Ngoc Son shared: "I myself am over 60 years old, when old age comes, if I do not study, I will be slow in thinking and action. I also have to learn about technology applications, then inspire other older people. Since opening the class, many people over 60 years old have registered, there are even people who are now 85 years old who are also excited to come to study.

To be able to guide the elderly easily, I chose to design lectures with simple and applicable content so that everyone can easily learn.

For Mr. Son, the "digital transformation and AI classroom" model was born to remove barriers and the fear of being surrounded by scams when going online.

"Old people are afraid that when they go online, they will be quickly approached by bad guys and will be victims of fraud. I have ways to explain why they are scammed, always upholding the confidentiality of personal information. Bad guys always play on greed, tricking those who want to receive bonuses, want to receive free gifts; Or too scared, providing personal information when the scammer claims to be a police agency...", Mr. Son analyzed.

Once a victim of scam calls, and usually only using his phone to watch videos and search for basic information, Mr. Pham Van Hung (residing in Tay Ho ward, Hanoi) has seen many changes after a few months of studying.

Mr. Hung said: "We care most about health, so I often ask the chatbot to answer daily information such as eating and shopping habits or the effects of medications.

Along with that, information about personal income tax declaration, re-issuing documents for the whole family according to the 2-level local model, or applications serving digital transformation... I was answered in class.

After studying, I also know that I have to be alert, not provide any personal information, and not listen to requests from strangers impersonating me."

Having become familiar with and proficiently using popular chatbot tools, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu (Cau Giay Ward, Hanoi) feels that AI is like a companion always by her side.

"In the past, if I didn't know something, I would ask my children or grandchildren. Now I have a chatbot as a companion. I don't need to read, I just need to listen to very clear, easy-to-understand information.

"Having an AI class helps the elderly like us a lot. We don't feel left behind, but rather improve our thinking and learn about the strong changes in this era of rapid digital transformation," Ms. Thu confided.
