The Marvels had the second-lowest opening day of any MCU movie to date on November 10, grossing $21.5 million from 4,030 theaters. That included $6.6 million in advance ticket sales. It was only slightly higher than 2008’s The Incredible Hulk , which holds the record for the MCU’s lowest domestic opening at $21.46 million, and less than the start of the Ant-Man franchise ($22.6 million).

If The Marvels doesn't pick up the pace, it will fall behind the opening weekends of both films ($55.4 million and $55.7 million, respectively), potentially having the worst debut in the MCU superhero franchise, according to Variety .
Those are some worrying numbers for Marvel Studios, which has earned nearly $30 billion at the global box office since 2008 but has faced a downward trend in theatrical revenue and a number of behind-the-scenes headaches in recent years. Still, a very low opening for The Marvels would be a tough blow, given that Marvel still had two big openings from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ($106 million) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ($118 million) earlier this year. The Marvels ' massive production and marketing cost of $270 million also makes it difficult to recoup its investment.
Reviews for the superhero film have been largely lukewarm, especially compared to its 2019 predecessor, Captain Marvel . Audiences weren't exactly thrilled either, giving it a "B" grade from research firm CinemaScore. That's not exactly a terrible reception, but it continues an alarming downward trend for Marvel movies.
In addition to The Marvels , Universal and Blumhouse's Five Nights at Freddy's took second place in box office, adding $9 million to its North American total.
In third place is the musical drama Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, which grossed $1.9 million on November 10 from 2,848 locations and is expected to earn $6.2 million in its fifth weekend. The film will surpass its domestic total of $172 million, making it the 12th top North American release of the year.

Killers of the Flower Moon came in fourth, earning $1.5 million on Nov. 10. Martin Scorsese's epic is expected to earn $5 million in its fourth weekend, bringing its domestic total to $60 million — a drop in the bucket compared to its massive $200 million production budget.
Priscilla rounds out the top five with a projected three-day total of $4.5 million from 2,361 theaters, a welcome success for the Sofia Coppola-directed film, which debuted with $5 million last weekend.
Nia DaCosta takes on the role of director for The Marvels , highlighting the collaboration of 3 female superheroes, with Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Teyonah Parris - Monica Rambeau and Iman Vellani - Ms. Marvel. The film will be released in Vietnam from November 10.
