Taking his two children to swimming class in Thanh Phu Long commune, Chau Thanh district, Long An province, while waiting for his children to start class, Mr. Truong Minh Phuc (Thanh Tan hamlet, Thanh Phu Long commune) contacted to find a badminton class for his children.
Mr. Phuc shared: “During the summer vacation, I don’t want my children to be pressured by studying , but to spend time resting and practicing life skills . Swimming is a necessary skill, so I took my children to school early. As for badminton, because my children like it, I signed them up to try it out.”
Sharing the same opinion with Mr. Phuc, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Lien (Ward 4, Tan An City) took her daughter to a drawing class at the Provincial Children's House so that she could satisfy her passion.
“My daughter used to learn dancing, then she said she liked drawing, so I let her switch to drawing. Children are still young, if they have the opportunity to try many different subjects, they will find the one they love the most, it is like a way to explore and understand themselves” - Ms. Lien said.
Although summer has just begun, the drawing class at the Provincial Youth Center has quite a lot of students.
Summer is here, students are on vacation, the need to find playgrounds for children skyrockets. Many parents want their children to have the opportunity to play comfortably and develop skills and “talents”, so gifted and talented classes are getting more and more attention.
To create a playground for children, many localities and units have begun to organize summer activities and open talent classes for students. The Provincial Youth Center has opened more talent classes with more time slots to serve the children's entertainment needs. It is expected that in early June, the Center will have about 30 classes: modern dance, drawing, chess, martial arts, computer science,... both during the day and at night.
Teacher Nguyen Anh Vu (modern dance class teacher at the Provincial Youth Center) said that the modern dance class will have 3 more time slots during the summer.
“During the summer, the gifted classes are very crowded, the Center has to open more time slots to meet the demand. Even though there are more classes, the number of students is still increasing,” said Mr. Vu.

Not only in Tan An City, in other localities, gifted and skilled classes are also opened regularly, creating opportunities for children to participate in useful activities.
In Chau Thanh district, communes such as Thanh Phu Long, Thuan My, Duong Xuan Hoi, Phu Ngai Tri,... all have sports or talent classes with moderate scale, suitable for actual conditions. Classes are often held on school campuses or cultural, sports and community learning centers.
In addition to the gifted classes, special skill training courses such as Military Semester and Learning to be a Police Officer organized by the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee in coordination with the Department of Education and Training, the Provincial Police, and the Provincial Military Command have also begun. These are programs that attract students to participate because of their high practical experience, helping to train life skills, teamwork skills, independence, and discipline.
At the same time, local Youth Union organizations have also started summer activities at the grassroots level to care for and create playgrounds for children; at the same time, contributing to traditional education.
Activities such as Journey to the Red Address; Journey to continue the tradition of Long An's bravery and resilience; visiting and giving gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers , veterans, former youth volunteers, families with revolutionary contributions;... often attract local union members and students to participate.
Summer vacation is a golden time for children to play, explore and develop themselves. Developing healthy and useful playgrounds helps children improve their physical strength, develop skills and sense of community.
To make the summer truly meaningful, it is necessary for families, schools and the whole society to join hands in creating more safe, healthy and useful spaces./.
