On the morning of May 25, the leader of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center informed that in the Thai Hoa Palace area inside the Hue Imperial City, an incident occurred where a tourist who appeared to be “high on drugs” arbitrarily trespassed into the restricted area of the throne, a national treasure, sat on the throne and damaged some details of this national treasure .
According to initial information, the incident occurred at around 12:00 on May 24. After purchasing a ticket to visit, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City (originally from Hue City) approached the area with a protective fence, climbed up and sat on the throne in Thai Hoa Palace and had actions and words that showed signs of being "high on drugs."
At that time, the number of visitors was sparse, so the incident was discovered by security forces a while later. A tourist used his phone to record and spread the video on social media, causing negative public opinion.
Hue City Police have arrested this subject and are investigating the case.
Thai Hoa Palace is the most important palace in Hue Imperial City, where the king sits on the throne, holds court sessions, grand ceremonies and important rituals, marking the ups and downs of the 13 Nguyen Dynasty Emperors.
The throne is located in the center of Thai Hoa Palace and was recognized as a National Treasure of Vietnam in 2015./.
