A representative of the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District said that the corrugated iron fence surrounding the "Shark Jaw" building is to ensure the safety of residents and vehicles participating in traffic, as well as urban aesthetics during the process of functional forces demolishing this building.
The demolition of the "Shark Jaws" building is expected to last for many days and be completed in June 2025.

A representative of the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District also said that the project to renovate Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square will be carried out in two phases.
Phase 1 will be implemented in May and end in August 2025 with tasks such as: demolishing the Commercial Center building No. 1-3-5 Dinh Tien Hoang Street ("Shark Jaw" building); moving the transformer station on the 1st floor of the "Shark Jaw" building; renovating the Hapro building (No. 7-9 Dinh Tien Hoang Street); renovating the roof, awning, signboards, and facades of buildings around the square on Dinh Tien Hoang Street, Cau Go Street, and the beginning of Hang Dao Street; reorganizing traffic on Dinh Tien Hoang Street...
The demolition of the "Shark Jaws" building is expected to begin at the end of May.

For phase 2 of the project, Hoan Kiem District People's Committee will study solutions to develop underground space in the square.
In particular, continue to renovate the first layer of houses on the street around the square. At the same time, renovate the overall technical infrastructure to match the activities of Hoan Kiem Lake as a special national monument .
Regarding the Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square Renovation Project, previously in April 2025, the Hanoi People's Committee directed and requested Hoan Kiem District and functional units to complete site clearance, including the demolition of the "Shark Jaw" building before April 30 and complete investment in construction of the above-ground part before September 2.
