A representative from the Hoan Kiem District People's Committee stated that the corrugated iron fence surrounding the "Shark's Jaw" building was erected to ensure the safety of people and vehicles, as well as to maintain urban aesthetics, while authorities demolished the building.
The dismantling and demolition of the "Shark's Jaw" building is expected to take several days and be completed in June 2025.

Representatives from the Hoan Kiem District People's Committee also stated that the Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square renovation project will be carried out in two phases.
Phase 1 of the project will be implemented in May and completed in August 2025, including tasks such as: demolishing the Commercial Center building at 1-3-5 Dinh Tien Hoang Street (the "Shark's Jaw" building); relocating the transformer station on the first floor of the "Shark's Jaw" building; renovating the Hapro building (7-9 Dinh Tien Hoang Street); renovating awnings, canopies, signs, and facades of buildings around the square along Dinh Tien Hoang Street, Cau Go Street, and the beginning of Hang Dao Street; and reorganizing traffic on Dinh Tien Hoang Street...
The dismantling and demolition of the "Shark's Jaw" building is expected to begin at the end of May.

For phase 2 of the project, the Hoan Kiem District People's Committee will study solutions for developing the underground space of the square.
This includes continuing the renovation of the first layer of buildings along the street surrounding the square. Simultaneously, a comprehensive improvement of the technical infrastructure will be undertaken to match the activities of Hoan Kiem Lake, a special national historical site .
Regarding the Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square renovation project, in April 2025, the Hanoi People's Committee issued a directive requiring Hoan Kiem district and relevant agencies to complete land clearance, including the demolition of the "Shark's Jaw" building, before April 30th and to complete the construction of the above-ground structure before September 2nd.
