Another person died from alcohol poisoning

A 44-year-old male patient in Kien Giang , who suffered alcohol poisoning while drinking with a group of construction workers, died after more than a week of intensive care.

On August 28, specialist doctor Duong Phuoc Dong, Head of the Department of Intensive Care and Anti-Poisoning, Kien Giang General Hospital, said that the patient was poisoned by methanol - a type of industrial alcohol, and died of irreversible cerebral hemorrhage. The family asked to take him home to prepare for the funeral.

This is the second case of death among the three construction workers who were hospitalized on the afternoon of August 20. The remaining patient was successfully treated and is now in stable health with no sequelae. According to Dr. Dong, the success rate of treatment depends on the amount of alcohol consumed, the time of hospitalization, and the patient's physical condition.

They drank with about 10 people, then foamed at the mouth, had purple hands and feet, respiratory failure, and were hospitalized in critical condition.

Alcohol poisoning from industrial alcohol is easily confused with regular drunkenness. The distinctive, easily recognizable symptoms are blurred vision and nerve damage. Therefore, doctors recommend that when abnormalities are detected, the person with alcohol poisoning must be taken to the hospital immediately.

Late last year, the hospital admitted 14 people with alcohol poisoning at a funeral, three of whom died later.
