More banks sharply reduce deposit interest rates

Sacombank is the first bank to reduce deposit interest rates in November.

For 6-11 month term deposits, Sacombank sharply reduced the interest rate by 0.3 percentage points. The interest rate for 6-month term is 5%/year, 7-month term is 5.1%/year, 8-month term is 5.2%/year, 9-month term is 5.3%/year, 10-11 month term has the same interest rate of 5.4%/year.

For terms of 12 months or more, Sacombank sharply reduced by 0.6 - 0.65 percentage points, officially losing the 6%/year mark.

12-13 month term is down to 5.6%/year, 15 month term is down to 5.7%/year, 18 month term is down to 5.75%/year. 24 and 36 month term deposit interest rates are down to 5.8% and 5.9%/year respectively.

Bank interest rates for 1-4 month terms decreased by 0.1 percentage points.

After Sacombank adjusted the interest rates for all terms to below 6%/year, there are now only 5 banks maintaining the interest rate of 6%/year for 12-month terms, including CBBank, Viet A Bank, PVCombank, BaoVietBank and OceanBank. Of which, the highest interest rate for this term is 6.2%/year (PVCombank).

For term deposits of 18 months or more, there are currently 17 banks maintaining interest rates from 6%/year, of which the highest interest rate is 6.5%/year ( HDBank and PVCombank).

Sacombank was the only one to reduce interest rates in the first two days of November, and deposit interest rates have almost bottomed out.

Statistics in the last 3 months show that the number of banks reducing deposit interest rates has gradually decreased, the amplitude and frequency have also decreased.

Last October, 25 banks reduced deposit interest rates, of which 10 banks adjusted twice and 3 banks reduced twice.

In September, the market recorded 33 banks reducing interest rates. Of these, 12 banks reduced their rates twice, two banks reduced their rates three times and one bank reduced their rates four times.

In August, 34 banks reduced their deposit interest rates. Of these, 9 banks reduced their rates twice, 3 banks reduced their rates three times, 4 banks reduced their rates four times, 2 banks reduced their rates five times, and Eximbank alone reduced their rates six times.
