Compete in efficient and safe production
On May 5, all units in TKV launched the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health - Workers' Month 2025, opening a series of meaningful, practical activities that spread widely among employees in the entire industry.
This year’s OSH Action Month is themed “Enhancing assessment and identification of risks and proactively implementing OSH measures at the workplace”. The Workers’ Month is launched with the theme “Vietnamese Workers Enter a New Era”. Both themes emphasize the proactive role of workers in ensuring OSH, while also arousing the spirit of innovation, creativity and bravery of workers in the context of digital transformation and increasingly deep integration.
Accordingly, the activities in this year's Action Month focus on two main points: Ensuring labor safety and practically caring for workers' lives. Responding to the emulation in the peak month, units have proactively developed specific action programs, closely following production practices. At the launching ceremony, professional leaders and Trade Unions of companies signed a commitment with teams and workshops to well implement the contents of the Action Month, ensuring absolute safety in labor production, contributing to the completion of the plan for May, the first 6 months of the year and the whole year of 2025.
Sharing the spirit of the whole Group, Da Bac Logistics Company - TKV also strongly launched a labor emulation movement. Right from the beginning of the year, the whole unit has closely followed the motto "Safety - Innovation - Efficiency - Development" to effectively implement professional tasks. Thanks to the unanimous efforts, in the first 4 months of the year, the Company consumed nearly 4.9 million tons of coal, reaching 40.9% of the yearly plan; estimated revenue reached over 5,400 billion VND. The average income of employees reached over 12.6 million VND/person/month, reflecting the operational efficiency and high sense of responsibility of the entire company's staff.
Not only stopping at production competition, this year's Workers' Month at Da Bac Logistics Warehouse has also been promoted with a series of practical activities aimed at workers. Ms. Van Thi Thu Hoai, Chairwoman of the Company's Trade Union, shared: Responding to Workers' Month with the theme "Vietnamese Workers Entering a New Era", on May 5, the Company launched a widespread emulation movement among all employees. The activities not only create a vibrant competitive atmosphere but also demonstrate practical care for the lives of workers.
In May, the Union coordinated with the professional staff to organize direct dialogues with 200 workers to listen to and resolve problems. In addition, about 150 excellent workers, skilled workers, and high-income workers will be recognized. It is expected that from now until June 2025, the Company will organize tours for workers and support medical examinations and rest for nearly 160 workers with poor health and injuries. Currently, in the face of hot weather, the Company is also implementing health care measures such as providing cooling water, improving nutrition, and arranging reasonable rest time.
On a Group-wide scale, the activities of the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health - Workers' Month 2025 were implemented synchronously and extensively. Production emulation movements, technical innovation initiatives, Union project registration... took place vigorously. The network of occupational safety and health workers was strengthened, promoting the core role in propagating and supervising the implementation of occupational safety and health in production groups and teams.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Hieu, Vice President of the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Trade Union, emphasized: “During the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health - Workers' Month this year, the Trade Union will coordinate with the professional sector to organize inspections and supervision of working conditions at units. At the same time, working groups will be established to visit and present gifts to 141 collectives and 450 individuals who have successfully completed their tasks in the first quarter of 2025 with a total value of over 2.5 billion VND. This is a worthy and timely recognition and a great source of encouragement for workers. In addition, dialogue activities between employers and workers are widely organized, contributing to building a safe, civilized and effective working environment.”
With close guidance from experts, the synchronous participation of the Trade Union organization and the positive response from workers, the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health - Workers' Month 2025 has truly become a peak period of action for the safety, health and rights of workers. This is also an opportunity to affirm the role and position of the working class in the Coal - Mineral industry in the journey of national modernization, pioneering the new era of development.
Breakthrough goals
With the vibrant competitive spirit spreading from the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health and the Month of Workers, along with the determination in management, TKV has every basis to make a strong breakthrough in the following months, continuing to affirm its role as a pillar of the national energy industry. TKV continues to demonstrate the mettle of a pillar economic sector when recording impressive production and business results in the first 4 months of 2025.
According to a report from TKV, by the end of the first 4 months of 2025, the entire Group had produced over 14 million tons of raw coal, reaching 40% of the annual plan and increasing by 7% over the same period last year. In April alone, raw coal output reached 3.5 million tons, exceeding the monthly plan by 5%. This is an encouraging result in the context of supply pressure and market fluctuations that still have many challenges.
Regarding consumption, in 4 months, TKV sold 13 million tons of coal of all kinds, reaching 38% of the yearly plan. Of which, the amount of coal delivered to large consumers such as electricity, cement, and fertilizer remained stable, contributing to ensuring national energy security. The average income of workers reached about 16.2 million VND/person/month, ensuring stable life and creating motivation for competition in the entire system. The growth figures exceeding the plan not only reflect the efforts of close management but also demonstrate the spirit of overcoming difficulties, solidarity and innovation of all officers and employees of the entire Group. This is the result of the Group's synchronous implementation of solutions from optimizing costs, improving productivity, modernizing equipment to promoting digital transformation in production and operation management.
Mr. Vu Anh Tuan, General Director of the Group, affirmed: “The main production targets such as raw coal output and coal consumption were not only completed but also exceeded the set plan. This is a clear demonstration of the outstanding efforts of the units in implementing the work right from the beginning of the year, while organizing production flexibly and effectively. The Group continues to focus on directing and operating production with the goal of ensuring safety and improving work efficiency. We will promote consumption, resolutely control costs, and continuously improve labor productivity to ensure the successful completion of the important goals set.”
Despite many positive results, TKV is still facing many challenges. Some mining units are facing complex geological conditions, longwall output is reduced due to pillar rocks, wall rocks, large mine water volume... Equipment incidents and work accidents have decreased but still need to be strictly controlled. Some technical indicators such as new tunnel meters and anti-cutting are still lower than planned over time.
In the second quarter, TKV aims to produce 515,000 tons of coal and consume the same amount. The target for the first 6 months of the year is to achieve raw coal output of 55% or more of the annual plan; complete the volume of tunnel excavation and basic construction according to the investment schedule; ensure stable, efficient and safe production and business.
To achieve these targets, the Group has set out a series of drastic tasks and solutions. In particular, strengthening safety training and labor autonomy, such as: Propagating and training on labor safety, fire prevention and fighting, using equipment in accordance with procedures to minimize accidents and incidents; speeding up the progress of tunnel excavation and changing production areas. Strive to exceed the basic construction tunnel excavation plan in the second quarter to ensure production areas for the third quarter and the whole year. At the same time, promoting investment and technology application, focusing on installing and operating equipment for more efficient exploitation; investing in key projects such as upgrading ventilation, transportation and drainage systems at mines and deep mines. The Group is interested in improving cost management and strengthening labor discipline, such as: Reviewing material consumption norms, monitoring equipment operation, organizing the purification of old materials for reuse, reducing costs; Strictly handle the situation of absenteeism without reason, ensure actual working days; enhance welfare, organize health check-ups, support workers in difficult circumstances; promote recruitment and vocational training to compensate for the shortage of human resources.
With determination and the right strategy, the Group is committed to continuing to maintain growth momentum, optimize production processes and successfully complete set goals, contributing to the sustainable development of the Coal industry and the country's economy.
