Not only protecting the environment through propaganda paintings, professional paintings also deeply express the green spirit.
Typically, at the exhibition "Thư Tiêu Dao" (currently taking place at the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association), artist To Bao An brought viewers messages about the environment through works that exude a surreal style, creating a strong visual impression. "Paintings about the environment and animals are very common, but in artist Bao An's works, the images of tigers, rabbits or storks are covered by a more distant artistic concept. Each work makes people stop to contemplate and realize the message of appreciating life and the green color of the environment around them," said Ms. Truong Nguyen Hoai Thuong (35 years old, advertising designer, living in Go Vap district, Ho Chi Minh City).
Painter To Bao An graduated from the University of Fine Arts in Ho Chi Minh City in 2014 and graduated from the Faculty of Painting, Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Belgium in 2017. His creative journey has been persistent in finding messages from the environment and the natural world through images of animals. By creating symbolic animal images, the world of painting is an effective means for Bao An to express inner depth, as well as thoughts about life, the environment and today's issues. Although animals are only expressed through eyes, gestures and behaviors..., they have expressed non-verbal metaphorical conversations between humans and nature.
Painter Bao An expressed: “Painting gives the person holding the brush many opportunities to open their heart about life and the natural environment around them. For me, painting gives me the opportunity to listen and find out what I am looking for and express it in my work. In a vague way, I encounter in animals an interesting way of dialogue, capable of expressing more meaningfully than what can be expressed in my everyday language.”
From a professional perspective, artist Nguyen Trung Tin, Vice President of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, shared: “Exploiting a popular topic today but with a very unique quality is also a very good experience for young artists. Like the paintings of To Bao An, as well as many other artists, when they have concerns about life, they have their own unique and interesting perspective, always allowing viewers to contemplate current issues.”
