Fukushima is located in the central region, nearly 300 km north of the capital Tokyo, stretching from east to west, and is the third largest province in Japan.

Fukushima can be visited at any time of the year, as each season has its own characteristics. From Tokyo, it takes about 90 minutes by Shinkansen. By car, it takes about 3 hours, via the expressway network. Fukushima Airport serves domestic flights between Sapporo and Osaka.
