
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a cabinet meeting
The Times of Israel reported on March 31 that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will undergo hernia surgery after a meeting with the war cabinet.
Accordingly, the leader's hernia was discovered during a routine health check on the evening of March 30 (local time).
Mr Netanyahu will be under general anesthesia during the surgery and Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister Yariv Levin will take over as acting head.
Ein Kerem, an official at the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, said the surgery will take place at 9 p.m. on March 31 (1 a.m. on April 1, Vietnam time) at Hadassah University Hospital in Jerusalem.
Mr Netanyahu feels well and has continued to work as planned before the surgery, including attending a war cabinet meeting.
On March 31, Mr. Netanyahu and his wife Sara attended a meeting with the families of female soldiers captured by Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The meeting took place at the Prime Minister's office in Jerusalem.
In Gaza, the Israeli military said the attack on Al-Aqsa hospital targeted a command center run by the Islamic Jihad (IJ) organization.
Gaza media reported at least two people were killed in the attack and accused Israel of bombing tents of journalists and evacuees inside the hospital grounds, according to Al Jazeera.
In another development, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on March 31 that its fighter jets attacked Hezbollah infrastructure in the Khiam and Rab el-Thalathine areas in southern Lebanon.
On the same day, Hezbollah said it had launched an airstrike on the newly established Barkhta artillery site and nearby Israeli soldiers. The attack took place at around 1:45 a.m. local time and caused "direct casualties."
Israel did not immediately comment on the information.
