Speaking at the meeting, President Luong Cuong emphasized that since its inception, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has always been loyal and deeply attached to the revolutionary cause of the nation. The press has been and is a vanguard force on the ideological and cultural front, contributing to propaganda, rallying the masses to unite and fight for the ideals and aspirations of the nation. Thanks to that, the press has made outstanding contributions to the great and historically significant achievements of the country.
The President affirmed that the country is entering a new era with a strong aspiration for a strong, prosperous and happy Vietnam. With its mission and role, the press must always be a sober, trustworthy companion and a pioneer in this great cause.
Recalling President Ho Chi Minh 's profound advice: "Journalists are also revolutionary soldiers. Pens and paper are their sharp weapons", President Luong Cuong said that the achievements of Vietnam's revolutionary press, as well as the excellence of journalists over the past 100 years, all originated from studying and following this teaching of Uncle Ho.
The President emphasized that this is a core lesson that Vietnamese journalists today and tomorrow need to learn, practice and strive to follow.
President Luong Cuong especially emphasized that Vietnamese journalists need to maintain political will, professional ethics, heart, vision, talent, along with passion for the profession. They must always be loyal to the Party's revolutionary ideals, to the cause and aspirations of the nation, and at the same time be closely attached to the people. According to the President, this is the highest requirement for journalists and revolutionary journalists to be able to create truly valuable journalistic works, promptly discovering and truthfully reflecting life.
Urgently and comprehensively innovate
The President also said that, as those directly involved in the cause of innovation, the press needs to renew itself, making efforts to truthfully and vividly reflect new developments, good and noble things, and kindness in life. At the same time, the press needs to courageously condemn evil, base things, degeneration, corruption, waste, negativity, bad habits, vices and social evils. The press needs to resolutely fight against erroneous and hostile viewpoints, protect the Party's ideological foundation, thereby consolidating and strengthening people's trust.
The President emphasized that this is the special fighting strength of the press and journalists in the new era, just as Uncle Ho taught: "Your pens are also sharp weapons in the cause of supporting justice and eliminating evil."
In the context of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation becoming strategic pillars, the President affirmed that the press must grasp this inevitable development trend. The press needs to urgently innovate comprehensively, synchronously and in accordance with its own specific laws to create products that reflect the breath of the times, creative in content and expression. The President also noted that the press needs to proactively grasp modern media trends, gradually building a new model of the press in the period of digital, scientific and technological transformation.
The President requested that central and local agencies proactively coordinate to research and perfect mechanisms and policies, creating conditions for journalists and journalists to be able to make a living from their profession and feel secure in their commitment to their profession.
At the same time, agencies need to continue to pay attention to training, promoting and honoring dedicated journalists, as well as young journalists, in order to build a team of dedicated journalists who are truly "revolutionary soldiers on the ideological and cultural front" as advised by beloved Uncle Ho.
