The 2025 Bia Saigon Dragon Cup International 7-a-side Football Tournament has officially ended with the championship belonging to the Thai 7-a-side football team.
The 2025 International 7-a-side Football Tournament is held in Ho Chi Minh City, bringing together three representatives: Vietnam team, Thailand team and KAMPUNG RAWA FC (Malaysia).
The host team Vietnam and the Thai team both had a favorable start to the tournament when they won against the remaining representative, Kampung Rawa (Malaysia).
Before the final match, both Vietnam and Thailand had 3 points. However, the representative from the Land of the Golden Pagoda had the advantage of a better goal difference and only needed a draw to secure the championship.
In the decisive match for the championship on the afternoon of August 17, the Thai 7-man football team showed impressive performance when they defeated the Vietnamese team with a score of 5-1.
Vietnam team lost 1-5 at home
The only goal for Vietnam was scored by Tuan Anh Jr, while Thailand had an explosive performance with goals from Sihanart Suttisak, Chaiyong Pearpong, Tanet Seangthong (double) and Kittikoon Pawong.
With this result, Thailand won all 6 points, officially becoming the new champion of the tournament. The Vietnamese team ended the journey as runner-up, while the representative from Malaysia - KAMPUNG RAWA FC ranked 3rd overall.
Mr. Pham Ngoc Tuan - General Director of VietFootball Joint Stock Company - sent his congratulations to the Thai champion, affirming: "Vietnam has not been able to win the championship, but this is a common victory for all of us. The tournament has left a great impression, attracting the attention of a large number of domestic and international audiences."
Thailand lifts the championship in Ho Chi Minh City
Not only bringing exciting matches, the International 7-a-side Football Tournament has continued to affirm its goal: spreading and elevating the 7-a-side football genre, the unique feature of Vietnamese football, to the region and the world.
The tournament has become a professional playground, where players can compete, audiences can live in a passionate football atmosphere, and at the same time contribute to effectively promoting the image of football, culture and Vietnamese people to international friends.
Vietnam team came in second
With sporting values and a spirit of solidarity, the International 7-a-side Football Tournament has come to a successful end, opening up expectations for the next seasons to continue spreading passion and raising the level of Vietnamese 7-a-side football on the regional and world map.
In particular, in response to the campaign to support the Cuban people launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross , the Organizing Committee and members of the Vietnamese 7-a-side football team also made practical contributions. This is a noble gesture, demonstrating the affection and solidarity of the Vietnamese people with their traditional friend Cuba.
