Promoting applied mathematics in business

This is one of the goals of the Ho Chi Minh City Mathematics Association in the term 2025 - 2030.

On July 26, the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Mathematics Association held the congress of the City Mathematics Association for the 2025-2030 term. Attending the congress were 200 delegates representing member organizations of the association from universities, colleges and high schools in Ho Chi Minh City.

The congress elected 13 members of the executive committee, of which the association's president is Associate Professor Dr. Pham Hoang Quan - principal of Saigon University, and the association's vice president is Dr. Tran Nam Dung - vice principal of the Gifted High School (Ho Chi Minh City National University).

At the same time, agree on specific tasks and solutions to further promote mathematical research in both theory and application, and establish strong research groups in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces.

The Association also aims to collaborate closely with foreign research groups to jointly promote the advantages of Vietnam's strong research fields.

Promoting applied mathematics research to become a concern of industrial and economic corporations, of artificial intelligence, data science, mechanics, economics , biomedicine, finance, climate change and sociology in Vietnam...

During the 2019 - 2024 term, the association has made many positive contributions in many activities. These include organizing the annual "Summer Math Meeting Conference", the MWB-Final-2020 Borderless Mathematics Competition, the Open Math Festival...

The Association also coordinated with the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City and Saigon University to compile documents and conduct training for math teachers to meet the 2018 general education program, in which more than 5,000 teachers participated in the training.

Participated in compiling and reviewing math textbooks, of which the most typical is the book series Creative Horizons of Math edited by Dr. Tran Nam Dung with the participation of Associate Professor Dr. Pham Hoang Quan and many authors who are members of the association.

Among the collective members, scientific research activities have been strongly deployed. During the past term, the units have chaired 12 Nafosted topics, 30 ministerial-level topics and more than 200 grassroots-level topics on mathematics and mathematical applications...

However, the association's activities also face many difficulties. The association does not have an official (separate) headquarters and currently has no full-time staff, does not collect membership fees and does not accept individual members.

With no regular financial expenditure, the association's main activities rely on contributions from collective members and benefactors.
