Technically, moon cakes are made from flour, seeds, meat, salted eggs... so they are susceptible to bacteria if the processing is not guaranteed.

Common types are E. coli, Salmonella, Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aureus, they will cause abdominal pain, diarrhea, even severe poisoning.

In addition, mold growth during poor storage can produce aflatoxin, which is harmful to the liver and increases the risk of cancer in the long term.

Some facilities also secretly use unauthorized colorants or preservatives, which are harmful to digestion and health.

Please note that moon cakes should be eaten within 1-2 days after opening the packaging. If you see signs of green-white mold, sour smell, watery filling, or soft, mushy crust, do not eat the cake.

Only buy cakes from reputable places with clear labels; keep cakes in a cool, dry place, away from moisture; observe carefully before eating, if moldy or strange smell appears, discard immediately; if accidentally eaten and symptoms of vomiting, stomach ache, diarrhea occur, go to the hospital immediately, especially for children and the elderly.
