Ok-om-bok festival connects ethnic communities in An Giang

Ok-om-bok festival is both a cultural beauty of the Khmer ethnic group in the South and a connection of the ethnic community.

On November 5, An Giang organized the 17th Khmer Cultural, Sports and Tourism Festival of An Giang province in 2025, and the Ngo boat racing competition.

Mr. Le Trung Ho - Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee - said that the festival is a traditional cultural activity, honoring and imbuing the cultural beauty of the Khmer ethnic group. This is also an opportunity to strengthen the strength of the great national unity bloc, contributing to the development of the local economy and society.

"Ok-om-bok festival is an opportunity for people to meet, exchange, participate in cultural and artistic activities, create solidarity, cohesion and contribute to promoting local tourism ," Mr. Ho emphasized.

According to Tuoi Tre Online , today there were many tourists attending the festival, especially the people who were excited and cheering for the Ngo boat racing teams competing on Cai Lon River.

"I was here at 7:30 am. I found the atmosphere of the Ok-om-bok festival of the Khmer people very exciting and attractive.

Locals and tourists use umbrellas and moor their boats on both sides of the Cai Lon River to watch the Ngo boat race, a typical feature of the Mekong Delta river region," said Nguyen Van Hau, a tourist from Can Tho City.

Ok-om-bok festival is bustling with artistic performances imbued with Khmer ethnic culture.

The 17th Khmer Cultural, Sports and Tourism Festival in An Giang province in 2025 takes place from November 4 to 6 (15 to 17 of the 9th lunar month).

This year's festival was organized by the People's Committee of An Giang province with many activities such as a trade fair and introduction of local OCOP products; and display of images and artifacts of Khmer people.

At around 9am, Cai Lon River (section of Go Quao Commune People's Committee) was packed with locals and tourists coming to watch the Ngo boat race.

Local authorities said the festival's activities are expected to attract about 250,000 people and tourists from all over.
