World No. 3 female tennis player Coco Gauff just made a frank and eye-catching comment at the 2025 WTA Finals.
The American believes the fierce and unpredictable competition in the women's category makes it more appealing than the dominance of the men's duo of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.
Speaking at the prestigious tournament in Saudi Arabia, tennis player Gauff used this year's Grand Slam results to prove her point.
"I think women's tennis is more attractive when the chance to win is shared among many people. For example, in the Grand Slam tournaments this year, there have been four different players winning. That's great, it shows a really competitive and dramatic season," Gauff affirmed.
While the WTA boasts a diverse roster of champions, the ATP circuit is dominated by two young stars, Sinner and Alcaraz.
While acknowledging the talent of her two male counterparts, the 21-year-old female tennis player still stressed that the lack of competitive candidates has reduced the overall appeal.
"It's true that Alcaraz and Sinner are playing very well, there's no denying that. But I think a third person needs to appear to create a bigger challenge. Having many different champions will always be better than just the two of them holding the top spot," Gauff expressed.
