Recently, due to prolonged heavy rains, water seeping into the mountain rocks and weak geology has led to many landslides on the coastal road. Large amounts of rocks and soil from the slopes have flowed down onto the road, causing congestion, including at km84+700, blocking the entire road surface.

On the afternoon of November 4, the road management unit, Ha Tinh Traffic Construction and Management Joint Stock Company, sent 2 excavators and 5 trucks to clear the road. However, during the process, another landslide occurred, injuring 2 workers.

The mass of rock and soil that fell from the mountain pushed an excavator and a truck at the scene, causing damage to both vehicles.

This morning, there was still light rain in the landslide area, and rocks and soil from the mountain were still falling onto the road. To ensure safety, the authorities have placed warning signs at both ends of the landslide to warn.

Mr. Tran Xuan Dan (residing in Kim Son village, Ky Xuan commune) said that at around 4:00 p.m. on November 4, when he was herding buffaloes home, he saw a group of workers clearing rocks and soil at the landslide area. While the group of workers were working, a large amount of rocks and soil suddenly fell down, the accident happened quite quickly.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Toi - Head of Road Management Department of Ha Tinh Traffic Construction and Management Joint Stock Company, said that continuous rain in recent days has caused water to seep into the soil on high mountain slopes, causing landslides at 3 points on the coastal road.

Of which, the section at km84+700 had the largest landslide, so since yesterday the unit mobilized machinery and equipment to clear the road. However, the construction process on the mountain continued to cause landslides, leading to a work accident, damaging machinery and injuring 2 people.

"The two injured are currently being treated at Ha Tinh General Hospital, and their health is gradually stabilizing. The company has also organized visits and provided initial support for the workers to feel secure during treatment," said Mr. Toi.

According to Mr. Toi, it is currently raining and there is a risk of further landslides, so this unit has put up warning signs and diverted traffic on the coastal road to let people know and avoid the landslide area. At the same time, they are waiting for favorable weather and instructions from the Ha Tinh Department of Construction to clear the road.
