Promoting Vietnam-Italy cooperation in high-tech shipbuilding

The Vietnamese Government supports high-tech shipbuilding cooperation projects and will provide maximum, effective and prompt support to implement projects of Fincantieri Group as well as foreign enterprises.

On the afternoon of October 15, at the Government Headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha received Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Marco Della Seta and leaders of Fincantieri Group to discuss investment cooperation opportunities in the field of high-tech shipbuilding in Vietnam.

At the reception, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha highly appreciated the vibrant and comprehensive activities of the Italian Embassy in Vietnam; emphasizing that Vietnam has the potential to develop the shipbuilding industry, especially in coastal localities.

Having gone through many ups and downs, with the strategy of restoring and developing the fleet, Vietnam is aiming for modern maritime products that meet international standards.

The Deputy Prime Minister assessed that Fincantieri Group's high-tech ship products are not only suitable for the Vietnamese market but also meet global needs.

The Vietnamese Government supports high-tech shipbuilding cooperation projects and will provide maximum, effective, and prompt support to implement projects of the Group as well as foreign enterprises wishing to associate with and develop a green, clean, sustainable high-tech shipbuilding industry in Vietnam.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha noted issues of local planning, environmental protection and selection of suitable locations, aiming to both develop the shipbuilding industry and maintain the orientation of green and clean tourism, thereby opening up opportunities for long-term cooperation between Italian and Vietnamese enterprises in the field of high-tech shipbuilding, contributing to the development of a sustainable marine economy .

Thanking the Deputy Prime Minister for taking the time to meet him, the Italian Ambassador and representative of Fincantieri Group said that the enterprise has 20,000 employees, operating in the fields of shipbuilding, design and repair.

In Vietnam, Fincantieri Group is operating VARD Vung Tau Shipyard, specializing in designing and building specialized, offshore vessels.

Fincantieri Group's leaders wish to continue expanding production capacity and applying modern technology to build ships serving key areas such as offshore wind power construction, trans-ASEAN submarine cable installation and specialized ships for the oil and gas industry...

On this occasion, on behalf of the Fincantieri Group's leadership, Ambassador Marco Della Seta presented support to localities affected by storms and floods through the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front./.
