TH had a sharing session at the workshop on building and implementing policies to promote responsible business practices - EU experience and practices in Vietnam.

On November 3, the workshop “Developing and implementing policies to promote responsible business practices – EU experience and practice in Vietnam – Participation of enterprises and social organizations” held in Hanoi attracted the participation of many experts, lawyers, representatives of international organizations and domestic and foreign enterprises.

Responsible Business Practice (RBP) is an important content to achieve the dual goals of economic growth and sustainable development. The United Nations has published the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs), to promote RBP on a global scale and to support countries to concretize them into their own national action programs.

In Vietnam, the Ministry of Justice is taking the lead in issuing the National Action Program to improve policies and laws to promote responsible business practices for the period 2023-2027 (Decision 843/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister dated July 10, 2023).

As a business with a clear sustainable development strategy, always complying with and practicing responsible business, at the workshop, Ms. Hoang Thi Thanh Thuy, Director of Sustainable Development of TH Group (the owner of the TH true MILK brand) shared some noteworthy things.

At TH Group, responsible business is defined in a very special way. It is closely linked to the founder's guiding ideology and is practically present in our business strategy.

Therefore, from the vision, orientation, and core values of TH Group, we build a sustainable development strategy including 6 important pillars, namely: Nutrition - Health, Environment, Education, People, Community and Animal Welfare.

Sustainable development is implemented in all our business and production activities. This has become an essential part at TH, not only because of obligation but also because of belief and passion to contribute positively to the Community and Society, ” said Ms. Thuy.

Highlighting responsible business practices in the environmental field

In the field of environment, the Director of Sustainable Development of TH Group said: from the motto "Cherish Mother Nature, She will give you everything" of Labor Hero Thai Huong - Founder of the Group, TH identifies core values, strategies and many responsible and practical actions and practices.

“Environmental friendliness” is a core value of TH and TH products. The “Environment” pillar is one of the six pillars of sustainable development policy. Green economy, circular economy, emission reduction, and the goal of Vietnam’s Net Zero are concretized into specific actions in each working process at all TH farms and factories.

In particular, the synchronous application of technological solution systems in production to reduce emissions is clearly specified in the fields of plastic reduction and clean energy.

In reducing the use of plastic in production and consumption, we follow three main initiatives: Replace, Reduce and Recycle, ” Ms. Thuy shared.

The program "Collecting cartons - spreading green living" at TH true mart annually promotes green living, recycling waste in production, business and daily life.

TH is a founding member of organizations such as the Vietnam Packaging Recycling Alliance (PRO Vietnam), the Vietnam Business Alliance for the Environment (VB4E) and has implemented many solutions to reduce plastic, such as reducing 50% of the amount of disposable yogurt spoons supplied to the market with TH true YOGURT yogurt products; completely reducing plastic shrink wrap on the lids of TH true WATER purified water products; reducing the weight of plastic bottle packaging; reducing the thickness of the bottle label from 45 - 50 micrometers to 35 micrometers - considered the thinnest plastic label in Vietnam; promoting collection and recycling activities.

At the Nui Tien Pure Water, Herbs and Fruit Factory of TH Group, we have run a production line for pure water bottles weighing only 12 grams of plastic. We invest in and improve technology to minimize the amount of plastic used while still meeting the highest standards for food and beverage packaging.

Currently, on average, the factory will reduce more than 500 tons of plastic per year for all product lines thanks to the application of proactive plastic reduction solutions, thereby contributing to reducing emissions and plastic waste in the environment " - Ms. Thuy presented a responsible, environmentally friendly business practice at a TH factory.

In addition to specifically reducing plastic, TH Group also proactively makes green transformation with a series of initiatives to sustainably develop clean energy sources.

Now, the rooftops covered with solar panels of the TH true MILK dairy farm cluster have become the largest producer of “clean” electricity in Nghe An province. This solution brings many benefits to the journey of “Cherishing Mother Nature” of Vietnam’s leading fresh milk brand.

After 3 years of operation, the solar panel system has produced 7 million kWh per year. According to calculations, the energy converted from light energy to electricity by the solar panel system on the farm helps TH reduce emissions equivalent to about 4,500 tons of CO2/year.

Solar energy from TH's farms and factories is currently equivalent to reducing 4,500 tons of CO2 emissions per year; TH will continue to promote investment in clean energy in the future.

Not only pioneering in investing in the production of “clean” electricity from solar energy, over the years, TH Group has also proactively researched and applied solutions and initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as well as save electricity for the country. A typical solution is the conversion from incandescent lamps to LED lamps for all lighting in farms and factories.

The practice of switching from incandescent lamps to LED lamps has helped save 5,000,000 kWh of electricity, equivalent to reducing approximately 4,000 tons of CO2. This initiative has won the Encouragement Prize for Energy Saving and the “Good Energy Manager” award from the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Responsible business practices in the “people” pillar

Not only stopping at environmental factors, RBP also includes demonstrating the responsibility of enterprises towards related entities, such as: employees, consumers, and communities affected by the business activities of enterprises.

Over the years, TH Group has been continuously honored as “Best Workplace in Asia” with three focuses: building a high-performance working culture; happy working environment; developing a sustainable human resource management system.

The Group issues clear regulations and policies on human resources, welfare, ensures the right to speak up, equality, respect for diversity and organizes many activities at the member company level as well as the Group level and attracts the response of employees across the Group.

In addition, TH Group's projects also contribute to creating livelihoods for local people, bringing farmers into the production chain, and contributing to the local economic development of project areas.
