On the afternoon of October 15, the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists organized the current affairs and art photo exhibition "Fatherland - 80 Autumns of Independence" at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam ( Hanoi ). This is an activity in a series of events celebrating the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

The exhibition includes 200 outstanding photographs, selected from 5,032 photographs sent from all over the country (including 568 photo sets and 4,464 single photos), comprehensively reflecting the flow of history and the breath of life in Vietnam over the past eight decades.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, photographer Tran Thi Thu Dong, President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, emphasized: “The exhibition “Fatherland – 80 Autumns of Independence” is not only a place to admire art, but also a journey of proud memories, reminding today’s generation of the unparalleled value of peace , independence and freedom. Each work is a visual epic about the Fatherland of Vietnam.”

The exhibition is also a journey to find the source of emotions, depicting a visual epic about Vietnam, and at the same time a vivid proof of photography's companionship with the country and the strong development of Vietnamese photography in the new era.
This is also an opportunity to honor the contributions of generations of Vietnamese photographers - those who "record history with images", regardless of hardships and dangers to preserve authentic and touching moments of national history; at the same time, arouse the pride, dedication, passion and commitment of photographers in the new era.

The 200 photos at the exhibition represent three important historical and artistic periods: “Unforgettable Years” – depicting memories of war and the indomitable spirit of the nation in the struggle for independence; “A Country Full of Joy” – recreating the atmosphere of solidarity and joy during the period of unification, construction and development; “Integration and Development” – reflecting a dynamic, creative and confident Vietnam in the period of innovation and international integration.

At the opening ceremony of the exhibition, the Organizing Committee introduced a number of typical works associated with important historical moments of the nation. These are the work "Rally to celebrate the complete liberation of the South at the August Revolution Square, May 1, 1975" by photographer Nguyen Huu Nen (Hanoi) - a valuable documentary work recording the joy of the country being reunited; the work "Reunification Train - Connecting the North and South" by photographer Tran Uong Son (Hanoi) - a vivid symbol of the country being reunited, warmly welcomed by the people of Ho Chi Minh City on January 4, 1977.

The exhibition runs until October 19.
