( Bqp.vn ) - On the afternoon of December 20, in Hanoi , Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, received Vice Admiral Aleksandr Peshkov, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

At the reception, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan welcomed Vice Admiral Aleksandr Peshkov to visit and attend the Ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day and the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024. He sincerely thanked the Russian Ministry of Defense for actively supporting the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition by sending a high-ranking delegation and leading Russian defense enterprises to attend and display products at the exhibition, thereby contributing significantly to the overall success of the exhibition.

Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan affirmed that the good traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation have continued to be consolidated, enhanced and deepened in many areas in recent times. He also emphasized that in recent times, bilateral defense cooperation has continued to be effectively implemented by both sides, in accordance with agreements and cooperation mechanisms, notably in the following areas: Exchange of delegations, especially high-level delegations; training of cadres; cooperation between military and service branches; cooperation at the unit level; support and participation in international multilateral activities organized by each side, multilateral mechanisms and forums on defense.

In the coming time, to continue to maintain and improve the quality of defense cooperation between the two countries, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan suggested that the two sides focus on effectively implementing the annual defense cooperation plan; effectively maintaining existing cooperation mechanisms; promoting training cooperation, military, service and unit-level cooperation, and scientific research. Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan also suggested that the Russian Ministry of Defense create conditions and support the Vietnamese Ministry of Defense to implement the contents of the dossier "70 years of defense cooperation between Vietnam - the Soviet Union/Russian Federation". Thereby, continuing to promote defense cooperation in accordance with the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

Speaking at the reception, Vice Admiral Aleksandr Peshkov thanked Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan for taking the time to meet him; expressed his deep impression when coming to Vietnam for the first time and attending the important anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army. Congratulating the Vietnam People's Army on successfully organizing the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 on a larger scale with the participation of many countries, Vice Admiral Aleksandr Peshkov said he is ready to share his experience in organizing exhibitions with Vietnam.
