Tien Giang: Mobilizing money and goods to support Agent Orange victims worth over 148 billion VND

(ABO) On the morning of June 19, the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin of Tien Giang province held a conference to review 10 years of implementing Directive 43 of the Secretariat of the 11th Party Central Committee and review the Association's activities in the first 6 months of 2025.

After 10 years of implementing Directive 43 of the Secretariat, the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin at all levels has achieved impressive results in overcoming the consequences of toxic chemicals used by the US during the war in Vietnam in Tien Giang province.

According to the report over the past 10 years, the Provincial Association has promoted the leadership of Party committees, Party organizations, and authorities at all levels. Currently, the province has 167 Association organizations (including 1 provincial association, 11 district-level associations, and 155 commune-level associations); there are 11,997 victims of Agent Orange. Up to now, victims in the whole province have received State subsidies. Compared to Directive 43, the province has increased by 1,831 victims, the number of victims receiving State support increased by 2,966 victims, raising the rate of victims receiving State benefits from 88.8% to 100% of the total number of victims.

Over the past 10 years, the Association at all levels has presided over and coordinated with organizations and benefactors inside and outside the province to contribute money and goods worth 148,053 billion VND; supported and helped victims overcome difficulties in forms suitable to the conditions and capabilities of the Association such as: Providing capital support for 288 victim households to create livelihoods to improve their lives; building Agent Orange Shelters for victims with housing difficulties; supporting wheelchairs and rocking chairs for victims to have conditions to move around in daily life and work; supporting scholarships for victims who are still in school to have conditions to go to school; organizing medical examinations and providing medicine for 11,358 sick victims; providing regular subsidies for 716 victims in especially difficult circumstances to stabilize their lives.

The Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin awarded Certificates of Merit and Commemorative Medals for Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims to collectives and individuals with achievements in 10 years of implementing Directive 43 of the Secretariat.
Collectives and individuals received Certificates of Merit for their achievements in 10 years of implementing Directive 43 of the Secretariat and received the Medal for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin from the Central Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin of Vietnam.

Every year, the Association organizes delegations of association organizations to visit and give gifts to victims of Agent Orange/dioxin on the occasion of the anniversary of Vietnam Agent Orange Disaster Day, important national holidays and traditional New Year of the nation...

The Association at all levels has done a good job of propagating the Party's guidelines and the State's policies on dealing with the consequences of toxic chemicals used by the US during the war in Vietnam in the province, honoring good people and good deeds of victims; showing gratitude to groups and individuals with compassion who join hands to ease the pain of Agent Orange, accompany Agent Orange victims, create a widespread influence in hamlets and communes in and outside the province, mobilizing people to join hands in overcoming the consequences of toxic chemicals in the locality and taking care of victims infected with Agent Orange/dioxin.

Promoting the achieved results, in the coming time, Tien Giang Provincial Association will continue to promote propaganda on Directive 43-CT/TW; focus on implementing well the regimes and policies for victims, perfecting the organization, building strong Associations at all levels; at the same time, promoting the work of mobilizing resources to support and help victims.

At the conference, the Provincial Association of Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims presented 50 gifts (each worth 500,000 VND) to Agent Orange victims in difficult circumstances in Tien Giang province, with a total cost of 25 million VND.

On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin awarded Certificates of Merit to 2 groups and 2 individuals and presented the Medal for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin to 19 individuals with achievements in 10 years of implementing Directive 43 of the Secretariat. In addition, the Fatherland Front of Tien Giang province awarded 22 Certificates of Merit to 4 groups and 5 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the movement launched by the Provincial Fatherland Front; the Provincial Association awarded Certificates of Merit to 18 groups and 18 individuals who successfully implemented Directive 43 of the Secretariat.
